Firs official photos from the ‘Wet Hot American Summer’ miniseries have just been released and we seriously dare you to get through them without laughing hysterically.
We still kinda can’t believe that Netflix is reviving the 2001 cult classic film Wet Hot American Summer for an 8-episode miniseries, debuting on July 31. Well, we better believe it because we’ve now got our first look at the A-list cast together again– and the photos are even better than we could have prepared for. Bradley Cooper and Amy Poehler back at it as the camp dramatists? Yup. Paul Rudd wearing a towel around his neck and being despicable? Definitely. Elizabeth Banks rocking bell bottoms? Duh! Check out all the amazing pics right now!
‘Wet Hot American Summer’ Pics
14 years ago, a group of very funny but relatively unknown comedians got together to film Wet Hot American Summer. Today, some of those people are the biggest names in showbiz— and they’re all back for this sure-to-be incredible miniseries.
While the film took place on the last day of summer camp, the show (which will see all its episodes drop at once, binge watching style), is actually a prequel and takes place on the first day of camp.
Okay, but does Paul Rudd still have something against people who taste like burgers?
The ‘Wet Hot American Summer’ Cast Is Back
Part of the original movie’s hilarious conceit was that all of the actors were in their 30s, playing teenagers. Now, they’re older and playing even younger teenagers– a fact which the series’s creators David Wain and Michael Showalter find hilarious.
“Wet Hot American Summer: First Day Of Camp is a prequel to the original movie,” David said. “In real life we’re fifteen years older but in the show we’re playing two months younger. The movie took place on the last day of camp in the summer of 1981. The show takes place on the first day.”
“We thought it was funny that in the original we played a bunch of thirty year olds playing teenagers,” Michael added. “Now we’re in our forties and our characters are even younger.”
What do you guys think of the cast photos? Are you excited for the show?
