Vin Diesel Sings Tove Lo’s “Habits” In Tribute To Paul Walker
The video, posted on May 20 to Vin’s Facebook page, starts off with the word BROTHERHOOD across the screen, leaving no doubts that this is a tribute to the late actor. Then, Vin takes to the microphone and begins to sing a version of Tove Lo‘s “Habits.”
Vin croons, and his unmistakable voice puts a deep, soulful spin on the song. Clips and pictures of Paul are broadcasted behind Vin, showing their friendship and how close they were before Paul’s untimely death in 2013. Vin spends his time facing away from the visual memories of his friend, singing his heart out in near complete darkness.
We are impressed! Vin repurposed the song, slowing it down and adding a distinct sadness to the lyrics. Initially, the tune was an anthem of getting over a bad break-up, but with lines like “You’re gone and I gotta stay / High all the time/ to keep you off my mind,” it makes sense that it could be used to express grief over losing someone too soon.
Good job, Vin. We’re sure Paul loved it!
Music has really helped Vin get over Paul’s death. Not only did he sing a touching rendition of “See You Again” (the Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth song that plays at the end of Furious 7) during an interview, Vin busted out the song during his appearance at the MTV Movie Awards on April 12. During a night full of laughs and smiles, Vin brought tears to the eyes of everyone watching.
