As we continue to hear allegations regarding Josh Duggar’s reported child molestation, we have to wonder…how has his family dealt with hiding this secret for so many years?! A celebrity relationship expert tells HollywoodLife.com how the Duggars have likely been affected by this ordeal.
The reports are shocking — Josh Duggar, 27, accused of “forcible” fondling of five little girls when he was as young as 14?! But what adds to these horrific allegations is that, if they’re true, his large family has helped keep the major secret for YEARS. And the coverup has probably taken quite a toll on the Duggar clan, as well as Josh’s wife and kids, a celebrity relationship expert reveals.
Josh Duggar Child Molestation Allegations: How They Hurt His Family
“People who hide secrets are not free. They’re always looking to cover up what’s going on in their family lives or whatever secret they’re trying to hide. As a result, the end up investing more time in coverups than they do in making their family healthier and more communicative,” Dr. Gilda Carle explains to HollywoodLife.com.
The police report against Josh was filed in 2006 (the reality star was never convicted), which means the Duggars have been carrying this around for almost ten years! That’s a lot of time.
“It all becomes about covering up and not about loving,” Dr. Gilda adds. “Having to cover this up is taking away the loving part of the equation, so undoubtedly, it’s pulling at the family.”
Dr. Gilda also tells us that everybody involved in the situation “should have gone to counseling.”
But what’s even more worrisome is the fact that Josh is also married, with three kids and a fourth on the way. Does Anna need to worry about having Josh molesting his own children amidst these allegations!?
“There is no answer to that, we don’t know that,” Dr. Gilda admitted. “Any wife of a man accused of molesting may have misgivings about leaving him with the children. Whether it’s true or not, it has got to be causing stress in the family.”
As for the alleged victims, Gilda says, “For them, it may be difficult to trust men. They’ll be around 17 years old now, and that’s the time when girls are interested in boys and kissing and sex. This may be interfering with their ability to trust.”
There are, of course, still so many questions we need answered in this situation, but regardless of whether or not the allegations are true, fans are getting angry.
In fact, 19 Kids & Counting viewers have taken to Twitter in masses, revolting against TLC and asking for the show to be cancelled! The network has only issued a “no comment” to HollywoodLife.com at this time.
Tell us, HollywoodLifers — do you think these allegations are hurting the Duggar family?
