Kanye West’s BBMAs performance was highly memorable – at least, the parts that people could hear and see. Now, reps for Yeezus released a statement that blasted the censorship that muted a full minute of his music!
We wish we could have heard more of Kanye West’s 2015 Billboard Music Awards performance, but the censors silenced a huge chunk of it! Ouch! Reps for Kanye, 37, slammed the censorship in a new statement, calling it “ridiculous” and that he was completely “misrepresented!”
Kanye West’s Statement On Billboard Music Awards Censorship
The statement went out on May 19, reports E! News. In the message, Kayne’s people put the show and television network censors on blast:
“Kanye West was grossly over-censored at the Billboard Music Awards. Non-profane lyrics such as “with my leather black jeans on” were muted for over 30 second intervals. As a result, his voice and performance were seriously misrepresented.
“It is ridiculous that in 2015, unwarranted censorship is something that artists still have to fight against.”
“Although West was clearly set up to face elements beyond his control during the live broadcast, he would like to apologize to the television audience who were unable to enjoy the performance the way he envisioned.”
Yikes! Well, Kanye’s song “All Day” does have over forty instances of the n-word. That language is why some of the crowd at Wango Tango took off when Yeezy started performing the track from his upcoming album.
However, once Kanye kicked off his epic “Black Skinhead,” the censorship should have stopped. But, it kept going! Kanye was onstage for 5 minutes and 18 seconds, but only 4 minutes and 16 minutes of his set were available to the home viewing audience, reports RollingStone.
While the statement from Kanye’s reps make it sound like he’s got Grammy level beef with the Billboard Awards, HollywoodLife.com had the EXCLUSIVE that Kanye really shrugged off the censorship, as sources claim Yeezy is not bothered by his haters, that he’s going to “continue performing his song his way” and that he’s not going to “have anyone change his artistic expression!
Seems like it is open season on Haters. Not only did Kanye’s people take shots at the BBMA, Kanye is now planning a diss track against Nicki Minaj for her video, “Feeling Myself.” HollywoodLife.com had the EXCLUSIVE on how Yeezy is planning a diss track against Nicki for the insults she threw at Kylie Jenner and Tyga in the video. Yeezy’s not stopping there, as sources say that Kanye “plans on retaliating with a song that will diss all the haters, including Nicki, Amber Rose and Black Chyna.”
What do you think about Kanye’s statement, HollywoodLifers? Think Yeezy’s really mad or is he just having his peeps send a message to not censor him again?
