The Season 8 finale of ‘The Voice’ is finally here! On May 19, the hit NBC show crowned a new winner, but first, the live show was jam-packed with amazing performances. Check out our full recap and — most importantly — find out who won!
It was a busy night on The Voice! Not only did the four Season 8 finalists, along with some former fellow contestants, return to the stage, but huge musical guests were also on-hand to perform. And at the end of it all, the winner was revealed! Read our recap here to find out who!
‘The Voice’ Winner: Sawyer Fredericks Wins Season 8 Finale
The night began with the Season 8 Top 20 reuniting to sing “Carry On” and “Some Nights” by fun. Seeing the whole crew back together again gave me SO many feels, and took me back to all the memorable moments of the season. So good!
But the artists who really matter tonight are the finalists: Koryn Hawthorne and Sawyer Fredericks (of team Pharrell), Joshua Davis (team Adam Levine) and Meghan Linsey (team Blake Shelton). All four truly gave it their all on Monday night, singing three songs each and leaving it all on the stage. Unfortunately, before they can find out who the winner is, we have a lot of filler to get through!
One of the best parts about The Voice finale is when each remaining contestant brings back some of their friends and former competitors from the season for a group performance. For his bring back, Josh chose Brian Johnson, DeAnna Johnson, Corey Kent White and Kimberly Nichole, and together they gave a beautiful rendition of “She Talks To Angels” by The Black Crowes. I’m going to miss this crew!
Next, the night’s first celebrity guest, Meghan Trainor, took the stage to sing a gorgeous, acoustic version of her hit “Dear Future Husband.” Meghan served as Blake’s advisor earlier this season, so it was awesome to see her doing her thing this time around, rather than just serving as a mentor. Take note, contestants!
Kelly Clarkson was up next, and she was joined by Koryn for an incredible rendition of Etta James’ “I’d Rather Go Blind.” The 33-year-old may have came from American Idol, but she looked right at home on The Voice stage. Meanwhile, Koryn looked and sounded like a seasoned vet by her side!
After a commercial break, Meghan brought back fellow Team Blake contestant Sarah Potenza, who she grew close with throughout their time on the show. The ladies gave a soulful duet of “Piece Of My Heart” by Janis Joplin, and it was beyond amazing!
Coach Adam didn’t just get to sit back and relax during the finale, either — he hit the stage with his band, Maroon 5, performing their new hit “This Summer’s Going To Hurt.” This track will definitely be blowing up the radio this summer, and….come on…Maroon 5 never gets old!
Next, Sawyer returned to the stage with one of his idols, John Fogerty — what an epic moment! Sawyer sings beyond his years, and proved that during this amazing medley performance. How does this kid just never lose his chill…he’s always keeping things so cool, calm and collected.
Josh had his big moment next — he got to perform with Sheryl Crow! The duo sang a smooth, chill-inducing version of her hit “Give It To Me,” and their voices seriously sounded so good together…I could’ve listened all day!
At this point, the contestants still have no idea who’s going to win the show, but we got to see all the finalists share a super exciting moment when they were all gifted BRAND NEW CARS! Yep, Koryn, Josh, Sawyer (can he even drive yet?!) and Meghan are now proud owners of Nissan Ultimas. Pretty cool, right?!
As a huge country fan, my favorite moment of the night came next — Luke Bryan took the stage to perform his BRAND NEW single “Kick The Dust Up!” It’s going to be a HUGE summer for the sexy country star, and this was such a great way for him to kick it off. SWOON.
Koryn’s bring back performance was next, and it was an all-girl power team! The 17-year-old was joined by pals Mia, India, Lexi, Caitlin and Tonya, and they seriously KILLED it on their rendition of “Uptown Funk.”
Pulling double duty, Kelly Clarkson came BACK on stage to perform another duet, this time with Blake’s finalist, Meghan. The ladies rocked out to Kelly’s newest single “Invincible,” and it was, no surprise…amazing!
For one last time, Sawyer returned to sing with his friends and former competitors Mia, Brooke and Lowell. The group sang “Lie To Me” by John Lennon, and it was just as incredible as expected.
What better way to cap off the season than with a performance from all four coaches? Blake, Pharrell, Adam and Christina Aguilera reunited on the stage one more time to honor the late B.B. King, and as usual, their collaboration was to die for. And can we just take a minute to admire that amazing, silver, hip-hugging dress Xtina was rocking?!
Finally, after two long hours, host Carson Daly was ready to read the results! This is the moment the entire season has come down to!
In fourth place — Koryn Hawthorne!
In third place — Joshua Davis!
Okay, here it is…will Blake win The Voice AGAIN?! OR is it Pharrell’s turn to take the crown?
The winner of Season 8 of The Voice is…Sawyer Fredericks! That means Blake’s Meghan Linsey is in second! Congrats to all the competitors — what an amazing season!!!
Okay, HollywoodLifers, we want your opinion! Did the right person win The Voice? Who did you want to take the title?
