‘Teen Mom OG’ Recap: Maci’s Scary Car Accident
Tonight’s episode started out very intense for Maci. She had gotten into a bad car accident with Bentley, but thankfully both were okay and so was her baby. It turns out that it wasn’t Maci’s fault, and another car had lost control of their vehicle. But the accidents didn’t stop there, a short while later Maci finds out that Ryan has also gotten into a serious car accident, but he wasn’t wearing his seatbelt.
This doesn’t sit well with her, because she’s afraid Ryan is reckless while their son is in the car. She asks him to come meet up with her so they can discuss Bentley. Ryan agrees, but shows up with Shelby which is awkward enough as it is. When Maci starts to discuss Ryan’s accident, he outright tells her that he doesn’t always put Bentley in a car seat. He says, “If I don’t have it, it’s not a big deal, because when I was his age I didn’t have one. The law says you got to have one but I don’t really push the issue.” At that point it seemed like Maci was about to jump out of her chair with anger, and tells him that no matter what Bentley has to be in a car seat.
Farrah Gets Into A Heated Argument With Debra
Farrah hasn’t had the best relationship with her mother Debra, and it was made even more apparent on tonight’s episode. Debra asks Farrah to go to a convention with her to promote their family’s pepper sauce. It winds up turning into her asking Farrah to help flip it into a startup company.
The big fight begins when Farrah disagreed with the sauce’s label that her mother had gotten designed for the jars. It just started to spiral downward after that. She feels like if her mom isn’t going to listen, then she doesn’t want any part of the business. Farrah asks Debra to have a contract made up for her to sign that protects her interest, which turns into yet another huge argument.
When Farrah goes out to celebrate her father’s birthday, an all out war erupts. She makes it loud and clear that she has no patience and or tolerance for her mother’s startup. The only reason the fight was extinguished was because her dad had to step in and remind them that they were all out to celebrate his birthday — not to discuss business.
Catelynn Struggles With Her Weight Issues
Catelynn’s pregnancy weight gain is still a huge issue with her. She admits to Tyler that even though she lost around 20 pounds, she wants to lose another 40. He tries to be supportive and agrees that she needs to eat healthier and work out, but Catelynn gets a bit annoyed when he suggests that she start right away. She tells him that she can’t do it right away, because she’s breastfeeding and doesn’t want issues to arise. He comes back with information he found online and tells her that working out and eating better has no negative effects — which just aggravates her even more.
Catelynn decides to go to the bridal store to try on her wedding dress for motivation. When she arrives and tries to pull the dress over her body, the store clerk lets her know that she will have to drop around four dress sizes in order for it to fit. Catelynn doesn’t seem too upset when she leaves and thinks positively that she can and will drop the weight.
When she gets home and tells Tyler the issue with the dress, he still tries to be supportive. He tells her that maybe she should think about adding sleeves, which Catelynn shoots down right away. Later she admits that him pressuring her to sign up for weight watchers is actually doing the opposite — it makes her want to do it less. Tyler apologizes and just continues to tell her he just wants to help. He admits that he just wants her to feel beautiful on her wedding day. So sweet.
Matt Tells Amber The Cameras Change Her
Amber and Matt head to Las Vegas for a little getaway. During their first night, they go out to dinner which winds up turning into a major fight. Amber gets aggravated that people are staring at her at the restaurant while she’s trying to enjoy a drink. She starts to feel anxious being in public and becomes angry. When her and Matt head to the car, he asks Amber to just cheer up. She becomes even more mad and tells him it’s not that easy, because she has terrible anxiety. He doesn’t seem to understand and makes the issue worse by telling her, “You’re a different person when these cameras come on. I don’t care what anybody says.”
Clearly this hurts Amber’s feelings and she says it’s not true at all. Matt goes even further and continues to accuse her of being different on camera. She finally snaps and says, “It annoys me when you say I change in front of the cameras. It has nothing to do with it. I have anxiety.” He steps out of line and tells her to grow up, which was the wrong thing to say. Amber lashes back and tells him, “Can you f*** off? That’s what you can do. Don’t talk to me like that.”
It doesn’t end there. When the pair return to their hotel, we see that Matt has a swollen hand and wrist. Amber tells Heather the producer that Matt threw an angry fit and punched the hotel wall. He tries to deny it, but finally comes clean and admits it was due to drinking. It seems like a very bad situation in general and the rest of the trip looks unsalvageable.
They both finally have a long talk about their relationship and Amber admits to being scared. Matt tries to understand, but it seems like this may not be the best thing for Amber right now. Yet she doesn’t take a step back, she remains committed to making their relationship work.
