‘Dancing With The Stars’ Results: The Finals — Episode Recap For Season 20
First, the couples repeated a favorite dance from earlier in the season in hopes of getting a higher score.
Sharna Burgess and Noah Galloway danced their Argentine Tango, which earned them a 30/40 the first time around. Noah fumbled a bit but it was still fierce and passionate. Head judge Len Goodman said: “Overall, there is an improvement in your dancing. You’re much more confident. Well done.” Bruno Tonioli said maybe his nerves got the best of him. Carrie Ann Inaba said: “That was hard for me to watch. You’ve come so far, but tonight, the nerves…you have a lot to prove but I know there is a survivor spirit inside of you, that champion, so next round, bring him out.” They got a 32, an improvement from last time.
Allison Holker and Riker Lynch danced their Paso Doble from Disney night. They got a 38 the first time, so this time around had to be literally perfect — and it was! Len gave them a standing ovation! Julianne Hough screamed: “I am so glad that you chose to do this dance! You contained the energy but you didn’t lose the energy.” Carrie Ann said he proved that he deserved a spot in the finals! Len said: “That was epic! I loved it!” They got a perfect score of 40!
Rumer Willis and Val Chmerkovskiy danced their premiere dance, the Foxtrot, which earned them a 32 in week one. After their amazing performance, Rumer’s dad Bruce Willis was shown in the audience in tears! “You may come from Hollywood royalty, but now you are, in your own merit, dancing royalty,” Bruno said. “That was pure poetry in motion. That was incredible,” Carrie Ann said. Len said it was great. “There was no timidness there. Tonight was flawless,” Julianne said. They got a perfect score of 40!
The Second Round — The Freestyle
Noah and Sharna danced to a mash-up of “Titanium” and “Fix You.” The powerful dance had me in tears. I mean, seriously, ugly crying, Kim Kardashian-style. The judges gave the couple a standing ovation. “Your journey has been the hardest and the longest and as we nearly reach that journey’s end, I have to say, that was amazing,” Len said. Julianne was in tears and said it was beautiful. “What you did tonight really transcended dance,” Bruno said. They got a perfect score of 40!
Allison and Riker were amazing in their traditional yet modern Freestyle! “That was like watching Fred Astaire for a new generation,” Bruno raved. Carrie Ann praised his incredible showmanship. Len said he “brought the past into the present. Well done.”
Rumer and Val danced to a super sexy, stripped down version of Britney Spears‘ “Toxic.” “Every move, every intention, sharply in focus. Bewitching intensity. Un-be-lieve-able,” Bruno said. Carrie Ann said she doesn’t watch her to judge, she just watches her dancing. Len called it pure and brave. Julianne said it was “raw, real and honest.” They got a perfect score of 40!
