This is just terrible. Chinx, formerly known as Chinx Drugz, was killed in a shocking drive-by shooting on May 17 in Queens, New York. The rapper was shot multiple times. Chinx, who was close friends with French Montana, Tyga and Meek Mill, was just 31 years old.
Chinx Dead: Rapper Killed In Drive-By Shooting
Police responded to a 911 call at around 4 a.m. on May 17, according to MTV News. The assailants pulled up next to Chinx’s car and fired multiple shots, according to police. Chinx was found with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso on the corner of Queens Boulevard and 84th Avenue in Queens, New York.
Chinx was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The other passenger in the vehicle was found with multiple gunshots wounds in his back. He is currently in critical condition. No arrests have been made yet as the investigation is ongoing.
The rapper was notably a member of French Montana’s Coke Boys group and record label. He was best known for his appearance on the Coke Boys mixtape and his own Cocaine Riot mixtapes. He released hit singles like “I’m a Coke Boy” and “Feelings.”
Chinx was born Lionel Pickens in Queens, New York. He was adamant on making it big in the music industry, but on his own terms. “I don’t want to fit in,” he said, according to his website. “I want people to respect my music. I have the drive to be original and to stay true to who I am as a person and as an artist, and not create a gimmick with my artistry.”
