There is a God! Streaming service Hulu has officially picked up ‘The Mindy Project’ for a new season!
Crying tears of joy! The Mindy Project, which was officially cancelled by Fox on May 6, will be rescued from the grave: The online streaming service, Hulu, announced on May 15 that it plans to resurrect the single camera comedy with 26 episodes. This will be the fourth season for the death defying show, which does not yet have a specified premiere date.
‘Mindy Project’: Hulu Saves The Comedy With New Season
Fans of The Mindy Project, which stars Mindy Kaling, were completely devastated when Fox pulled the plug following three seasons of not so great to pretty bad ratings. However, in this day and age, nothing that’s dead has to stay dead, and rumors immediately swirled that Hulu would save the series.
Well, less than two weeks after the cancellation, our wishes have come true: Hulu has officially picked up 26 episodes, which will be considered one, supersized season, with the option to renew for additional episodes following the season premiere.
‘Mindy’ Gets A Second Chance
In a statement, Mindy said, “I am thrilled The Mindy Project has found a new home on Hulu, where so many of our fans are already watching the show.”
Hulu’s Head of Content, Craig Erwich, shared Mindy’s excitement, as well. “Mindy has been a beloved member of the Hulu family, so this deal is a natural extension of our relationship,” he said.
For those of us who watch, the cancellation was all the more insulting, as the season ended on a very unresolved note. Mindy and Danny (Chris Messina) are officially expecting a baby and, frankly, not to let us see the absurdity that will be those two as parents would be cruel.
Are you guys glad that Mindy is rising from the grave?
