Gigi Hadid’s Smokey Eye: How-To Recreate The Look This Weekend

Fri, May 15, 2015 10:46am EDT by Add first Comment

Hello, Ms. Maybelline! Gigi had us swooning over her smokey eye at Maybelline New York’s 100 Year Anniversary on May 14. We were so inspired by her makeup that we broke down her beauty look below!

All-American stunner Gigi Hadid, 20, continues to take her top model status to new heights. The blonde bombshell made heads turn as she celebrated Maybelline’s century of success — and rocking a winged smokey eye was the perfect way to pay tribute to this makeup milestone! Gigi’s smokey eye reflected a modern update on the classic makeup trend — and you can easily recreate the look, just in time for the weekend. Want to try it out?

Fortunately, fans of Gigi’s graphic smokey eye can recreate her look with a few simple steps:

First, apply iridescent eyeshadow from your Maybelline Expert Wear Eyeshadow Palette to the corners of your eyelids and then gradual build the pearly color out towards your brow bone.

Now, here’s the fun part: rim the outer corners of your top and bottom lash lines with a darker color from the palette to create a sideways triangle shape at the outer corners of your lid. After you create this dramatic outline on both sides, then fill the triangles gradually with the same brown or black shadow. If you’re more fair, opt for a brown shadow. And of course, if there is any residue, you can always clean up the edges with a Q-tip dipped in Maybelline Eye Makeup Remover.

Then, lash out with Maybelline Great Lash Clear Mascara, focusing the on the corner lashes to create that wide effect. Equally, this clear mascara can be applied to smooth out your thick Gigi inspired eyebrows too! We love a product that does double duty!

Finally, add a hint of bronzer and a nude gloss so you don’t compete with your statement-making smokey eye.

We were immediately drawn to Gigi’s stunning eyes since the model’s typically free-flowing full blonde mane was pulled off her face.

Pulling her hair back kept the focus on her stunning features — and her winged smokey eye! We loved it. Will you try out the look?
