Steven Tyler is goin’ country! The Aerosmith frontman took the stage during the ‘American Idol’ finale– and then was joined by top three finalist Jax, before they both totally rocked out!
Steven Tyler is clearly a man of many talents. The Aerosmith singer, 67, known for his rocking vocals, has decided to go country. On the May 13 finale of American Idol, the former judge of the singing competition took to the stage to debut his brand new single, “Love is your Name.” Then, better yet, Jax joined him on stage to rock out to “Piece of My Heart” and it was epic.
Steven Tyler & Jax’s ‘American Idol’ Finale Performance
And Steven Tyler, during his performance on the American Idol 14th season finale, is clearly proof of that. The rockstar (who, seriously, will never lose that title even if he’s not singing rock), took to the stage to perform his brand new single “Love is your Name,” which he had just released earlier in the day.
The performance got even better when top three finalist Jax joined the iconic rocker on stage for a rendition of the classic Janis Jopin cut, “Piece of My Heart.” Ugh, so freaking awesome.
Steve Tyler Is Going Country
Steven’s choice to transition into the country genre is not actually sudden. In fact, in April Steven signed to the iconic country label, Dot Records, before he headed down to Nashville (where else?) to record his new sound.
“I’ve been working with some f–king epic Nashville songwriters, getting my feet wet with the style and groove,” Steven told Rolling Stone about moving into the Country realm. For this single, Steven went into Nashville’s Blackbird studio and actually recorded the whole song on his first day. “I guess you could call that beginner’s luck,” he said.
What do you think of Steven singing country? Is it cool, or do you prefer him singing rock?
