Jem and the gals are coming to life. A live action film, based on the cult-classic animated series Jem and the Holograms, will hit theaters on Oct. 23, and we’ve now got our first trailer for the exciting movie! In an updated take on the 80s TV show on which it is based, the movie will tell the story of Jerrica/Jem (Aubrey Peeples), a small town girl who quickly transforms from video star to global superstar as she and her three sisters take the world by storm with their music. We dare you not to smile from ear to ear while watching the trailer!

‘Jem & The Holograms’ Movie Trailer

“I, Jerrica Benton am living the most unexceptional life,” Jerrica, soon to be Jem, says at the start of this trailer for Jem and the Holograms.

“At some point we all wish we could just become someone else,” she adds. Well, you know that expression, be careful what you wish for? Though Jem objects to singing on camera, her sister Kimber (Stefanie Scott) secretly leaks some of her videos online and, almost instantly, the videos begin to rack up millions of views.

Well, next stop Hollywood, right?

A New Take On ‘Jem & The Holograms’

“You are no longer Jerrica,” a powerful woman in a pantsuit tells Jerrica as she arrives in Los Angeles. “Jem. That’s what we call you now.”

As the story goes, the glamour and allure of fame doesn’t last long, and quickly it seems Jem’s priorities are tested. A new generation with the same classic issues, right?

Are you excited for the Jem and the Holograms movie? Or do you think the adaptation is too unfaithful to the original?
