The ‘DWTS’ semi-finals sent home a shocking team, who were clearly nailing the dances week after week. However, I think that it proves that this show is not just about the technique — it’s about so much more.
Warning: spoilers ahead! If you didn’t see the elimination episode on May 12, you don’t want to keep reading (unless you love being spoiled like me!).
‘DWTS’: Nastia Liukin’s Elimination Proves It’s Not All About The Dancing
When Nastia Liukin and Derek Hough‘s team were sent packing on the May 12 episode of Dancing with the Stars, many were completely shocked. The team had been killing in from day one. Even though he got hurt, Sasha Farber, stepped in and it was clear that Nastia didn’t miss a beat. The girl could dance, that was without discussion.
So why did she get sent home? Well first off, it wasn’t going to be Rumer Willis and Val Chmerkovski or Riker Lynch and Allison Holker. Both teams have the entire package: the extreme improvement rate each week, the talent and technique, and the charm.
Noah Wants It More
Then there’s Noah Galloway and Sharna Burgess, who are clearly winning the heart’s of America week after week. Noah of course, has limitations in his dancing, but his strength and courage makes the audience fall in love with him — plus, he can dance! However, some felt that overall Nastia was a better dancer. Was she? Maybe. But is that the only thing this is about? No. Not even close.
While technique is what gets you good scores initially, it takes much more: charm, personality, and chemistry with your partner. Derek and Nastia are both amazing dancers, but they never seemed to really connect on the dance floor — and she never really looked excited about dancing! The winner of Dancing with the Stars should be someone who really wants it and is excited about it.
What do you think, HollywoodLifers? Did the right team go home? Who do you want to win it all? Let me know.
