The finalists of Season 8 of ‘The Voice’ have been revealed! Sadly, that meant one contestant had to be eliminated on the show’s May 12 episode. Read our recap to find out who’s moving on…and who’s been sent packing just one week shy of the finale.
Four artists remain, and next week, the winner of Season 8 of The Voice will be named. Unfortunately, before that can happen, one more singer had to be eliminated on May 12 after two rounds of all-around incredible semifinal performances. Check out our full recap to get the scoop on everything that went down in this week’s nail-biting elimination episode!
‘The Voice’ Top 4 Revealed: India Carney’s Eliminated 1 Week Before Finals
To start off the show, up-and-coming band Walk The Moon hit the stage to sing their hit song “Shut Up And Dance.” Sooo… that will now be stuck in our heads for the rest of the night! Not complaining!
Jumping right into what’s important, Carson Daly brought the five semifinalists on stage to announce some results. And the first finalist is…Sawyer Fredericks from Team Pharrell! Once again, this is absolutely no surprise, as Sawyer has been a fan-favorite since day one, and both of his songs from Monday landed in the Top 10 on iTunes. Well deserved, for sure!
After hearing the exciting news, Pharrell took the stage with Snoop Dogg to sing their new song “California Roll.” It’s always fun to see the coaches get up there to do their thing, and this was no different!
Next, the four remaining artists joined Carson on stage for the second round of results, and Team Blake Shelton‘s Meghan Linsey was announced safe! Blake has obviously had an amazing track record on the show (he’s won four times!), and after he lost two artists in the Top 8, Meghan totally stepped it up and got redemption for the country star in Season 8.. She’s been on fire the last few weeks and will absolutely be a force to be reckoned with in the finals!
Taking a quick break from the results, Meghan, India Carney and Koryn Hawthorne, the final three ladies, gathered on stage to give a powerful performance of Journey’s “Faithfully.” WOW! Can’t all the contestants just win at this point!? They’re all SO good.
But immediately after, it was back to business. In a bit of twist, Carson then announced the first singer who’s in jeopardy — India Carney from Christina Aguilera’s team. This will be the third week in a row that India will have to sing for her life in hopes of staying in the competition thanks to America’s Instant Twitter Save. She’s risen to the occasion both times before, edging out her fellow contenders in two super close votes, and definitely shouldn’t be underestimated!
Finally, Carson revealed that Adam Levine’s final contestant, Joshua Davis, will move onto the finale! That means Pharrell’s second contender, Koryn Hawthorne, will sing head-to-head against India for the last spot.
India took the stage first to sing “Dark Side” by Kelly Clarkson. As usual, she remained composed, starting off slow before really showing off her powerful vocals and intensity as the song continued on. “India, you always do my heart proud,” Christina gushed after the performance. “You come out here and push yourself to the limit time and time again and you’ve discovered things about yourself I’m not even sure you knew were in there. We had quite the journey together, and no matter what happens, I am with you, I am a fan of you, I am a fan of India Carney. She is amazing.”
Koryn was up next, and certainly gave India a run for her money with her performance of “If I Were A Boy” by Beyoncé. Both ladies have such similar styles of singing and absolutely killed it with their final save songs, so it’s going to be a tough decision for America! “If there’s no one in your life to tell you, ‘Yes,’ I’m telling you right now, this girl right here is singing for you. Please vote and save Koryn,” Pharrell urged the fans. This one is going to be close!
After America’s Instant Save vote on Twitter, the last artist moving on to next week’s finals is… Koryn Hawthorne!
Sadly, that means India will be going home, but after weeks of incredible and memorable performances she certainly has nothing to be disappointed about! It was an incredible journey and we’re so excited to see what she does next. Unfortunately, Christina will be the only coach not to have a contestant in the finals, while Adam and Blake will each have one, and Pharrell will move on with two.
Alright, HollywoodLifers, we have to know your thoughts! Do you agree with tonight’s decision!? Who do you think is going to win?
