Rumer Willis has been totally crushing it on this season of ‘Dancing with the Stars.’ However, it turns out her mother, Demi Moore, was not exactly pleased when her daughter told her she’d be competing on the dancing series!
On the May 11 episode of Dancing with the Stars, Demi Moore opened up for the first time about her feelings about daughter Rumer Willis joining the 20th season of the long running show. Demi, along with Rumer’s father, Bruce Willis, have both been spotted throughout the season cheering Rumer on from the audience but finally, in prerecorded interviews which aired during the episode, the two shared their thoughts on her DWTS tenure. Demi even discussed why her “whole insides were screaming ,’no,'” when Rumer approached her about the idea!
Demi Moore & Rumer Willis: She Didn’t Want Her To Do It
You wouldn’t know it by watching her killer performances on this season of DWTS, but Rumer Willis has struggled with confidence for most of her life.
Her mother, Demi, made that clear when discussing her hesitation about Rumer joining the show. “When she said, ‘I want to do Dancing with the Stars,’ my whole insides– I have to be honest– were screaming, ‘no,'” Demi said. “One of the most beautiful things I’ve witnessed is watching her passion become greater than her fear… It has nothing to do with her being my kid or Bruce’s kid. It has everything to do with just who she is.”
Rumer’s Biggest Fans Are Her Parents
Speaking more about Rumer’s struggle to overcome her insecurities, Demi said “There was nothing [I could do]. I could only just keep loving her and loving her until she could love herself.”
Bruce also made a comment, though kept it much shorter than Demi’s. “I love her,” he said of Rumer. Hey, sometimes, that’s all ya need!
Do you think Demi was right to be nervous about Rumer doing DWTS?
