Finally, we’ve arrived at the final installment of the ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ reunion and, obviously, things end on a completely explosive note! We’ve got a recap of everything that went down!
We’ve finally made it, you guys. The third and last episode of this season’s Real Housewives of Atlanta reunion aired on May 10, and it was absolutely insane– like, the first two weeks didn’t even really prepare us for this. Between NeNe Leakes and Cynthia Bailey‘s massive blowup, to NeNe’s full-blown breakdown, there was too much craziness to even discuss it all. But alas, we’re gonna try! Check out a full recap!
‘Real Housewives Of Atlanta’ Reunion Part 3
We open on NeNe denying that she ever flirted with Peter. Peter, believe it or not, agrees and says that while he and NeNe get along, nothing inappropriate ever happened. Peter then quickly undoes his goodwill by saying, “if I’m gonna cheat on my wife, I’m gonna hit something big.” Wow. Noted.
We then move onto a different marriage: Kandi Burress‘. We get a montage of the year she’s had with Todd. Andy Cohen gets right to the point and asks when the last time was that the couple got it on. “Two days ago,” Kandi overshares. All the ladies applaud. The couple also adds that a baby is very much in the works. We are spared the details of that venture, thankfully.
Andy then asks a question that–admit it– you might have wondered yourself: did she get her boobs done? “Let’s be clear: I’ve gotten fatter over the last couple years,” Kandi says. “My boobs, my thighs, my face, my arms– everything has gotten bigger.” Fair enough!
NeNe Vs. Cynthia
So, getting to that NeNe and Cynthia blowup. It was bound to happen, right? We start out calmly, with both women explaining their side of the story. Cynthia tells NeNe that she would never have tried to get her kicked off of the show, like she had done to her. What ensues is a back and forth that will go down in the RHOA history books. I need to rewatch it about 7 times to get it all, but neither lady was too happy.
Andy asks Cynthia and NeNe about the love they once shared. Does NeNe still love Cynthia? “Ya know… I wish her well,” she says. Ouch. Cynthia says she will be cordial, while NeNe doesn’t explicitly agree. “That wasn’t very helpful,” Andy says.
We move onto the girls’ trip to Puerto Rico which, as we know, was not as relaxing as it was meant to be. and NeNe had some words for Claudia Jordan that were so vile, I won’t repeat them here. But you know what they were. When asked how many times NeNe needs to apologize to her, Claudia said that she only had once, and she hadn’t even meant it. So, no, they aren’t on great terms.
Throwing Lopsided Booty Shade
The Claudia/NeNe discussion does not end there. Someone wrote in and asked about NeNe’s egregious choice to call Claudia “half breed.”
“Claudia never cared that I called her that,” NeNe says, as Claudia shakes her head in disagreement. Does she want to apologize? Well, she apologizes to the viewers who may have been offended. But, to Claudia? “That never bothered Claudia.”
“You should be sensitive to people who are biracial.. Apologize to the cameras, do it for the Vine. I don’t need it,” Claudia says.
Now, moving onto far more important issues. The fact that Kandi said Kenya Moore‘s booty was lopsided. “Actually, I have a pretty nice booty,” Kenya said. Oh, and then Kenya casually drops that Kandi might have a sex tape.
We welcome back NeNe’s friendterventionist, Dr. Jeff. NeNe reiterates that she thinks he should be worried about losing his license.
Kandi brings it back to reality real quick saying that NeNe is essentially full of you know what. As the women start yelling, NeNe starts crying (again). Countdown to her next storm out: two minutes? One minute?
“I know NeNe has been through a lot in her life,” Cynthia says. “You’ve made it.”
Kenya adds, “NeNe, you feel like we don’t like you. We don’t want to be in that same place with you.”
As the women continue to shower her with praise, there it is: NeNe’s storm out. She tries to walk out of the room and doesn’t even make it to the door. But all she can say is, “I can’t talk about my mom.” Portia and Dr. Jeff literally drag her out of the room while she whimpers.
Claudia hangs back and does the real life version of an SMH. Kandi, too, is trying to understand what triggered the waterworks. Uh, I can think of one thing in particular: attention. (What, did I say that?)
Cynthia went to NeNe’s side, perhaps proving that maybe they will put their differences aside and let their love prevail. I mean, I’m half kidding, but crazier things have happened!
When NeNe returns, Dr. Jeff points out how each of the women were there for her when she needed them. “I just think that maybe I have been misunderstood,” she says. From there, we continue to talk about NeNe. It’s basically to the point of absurdity.
At last, it’s time to wrap the season up. We finally get to Phaedra Parks. “It’s been the roughest season ever,” she says. Well, that’s all we get from Phaedra.
The women give their final remarks and, frankly, I’m not sure they learned too much, but it’s nice to hear them share the wisdom they think they’ve gained. Not surprisingly, we end with NeNe who, also not surprisingly, gives the longest response.
“We are on this journey together,” she says.
We end, per Andy’s request, with a giant group hug. Forced, but sweet none the less.
And that’s it! What do you think of the final episode? Did NeNe’s behavior bother you? And how about the season as a whole? Share your thoughts below and we’ll see ya next season!
