In case the penultimate episode didn’t leave your heart in pieces, here’s a new promo that absolutely will. You thought the first promo, which aired after the episode, was sad. Get ready.

Caution: if you’re not physically/mentally to say goodbye to Elena (Nina Dobrevor you haven’t yet seen the May 7 episode of The Vampire Diaries, I wouldn’t advise watching. Spoilers ahead.

‘The Vampire Diaries’ Promo: It’s Time For Goodbyes

Just when we thought we couldn’t get any more emotional — the new trailer for the season six finale hit the web. Now we already shared the first promo, which gives us a montage of Elena’s history on the show.

But now there’s an actual promo, showing everyone in the cast saying their goodbyes. Caroline (Candice Accola) shows each of them how to get into an unconscious Elena’s memories, the way she did with her mom — and we’ve got to say, it’s ridiculously sad, especially for Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder).

Who’s Ever Going To Be Ready For That?

“Take her hand, close your eyes. Just let her into your thoughts,” Caroline tells those closes to her, including Bonnie (Kat Graham), Tyler (Michael Trevino), and Alaric (Matt Davis). Again, Matt is no where to be seen but either is Jeremy — which makes me think that they’re off trying to fix things together.

Anyways, in her thoughts of Stefan, he’s not ready to say goodbye and tells her he “can’t,” while with Damon, she asks him if he’s ready. “Ready to spend the next 60 years of my life without you? Who’s ever going to be ready for that?”

Good point, Damon.

There’s so many questions that come out of this entire trailer. Why did Damon say the next 60 years? Did he already take the cure? At the end it looks like Damon has his hands on a coffin — but could Elena really be dead? Let us know what you think.
