Jennifer Lopez tried a trendy new hairstyle on the May 6 episode of ‘American Idol’ that we’re already calling the ‘It’ hairstyle for summer. Leaving her long, blonde ombré hair straight, JLo added a half top knot into the mix to liven up her locks. But what do you think of this half-up, half-down look?
We can always count on Jennifer Lopez, 45, to bring it in the beauty department each week on American Idol. While the singer usually favors a high, twisted top knot or volumized waves, this week she found a happy medium with a half-up style that left the rest of her long hair loose. Finishing her look with a nude lip, bronzed eye and highlighted skin, JLo looked fresh-faced and glowing. Learn how to get her new half-up, half-down hairstyle for yourself, and let us know what you thought of Jennifer’s latest look.
Jennifer Lopez’s Half-Up, Half-Down Hair On ‘Idol’
We’re loving how versatile and easy the half top knot hairstyle is to pull off. You can style it curly or straight (think how much easier it is to only have to curl half you hair!), or leave your hair to do its own thing with its natural texture. Plus, the half pulled back look is the perfect way to hide greasy roots on days when you’ve skipped a hair wash or want to stretch out a blowout.
If you want to try it for yourself, add a little grip to dry hair by spraying it with Redken Windblown 05, then use a brush (or just your hands for a messier look) to pull the front half of your hair back. Twist your hair into a high knot like JLo, pinning any loose pieces back, then style the bottom section of your hair any way you like, finishing with a flexible hold hairspray.
