Talk about intense. Caroline reunited with Stefan, Jolaric tried to get through their wedding day and Damon finally decided whether he wanted the cure or not. And trust me, that’s not all. Not even close.
If the penultimate episode of The Vampire Diaries was any sort of preview of the intensity coming in the finale, I’m not sure I can handle it. After taking the cure, Elena (Nina Dobrev) wanted to make sure Damon (Ian Somerhalder) was really ready to become human — so Stefan (Paul Wesley) took him on a road trip to show him how scary human life can be.
Damon, Meet Human Life
Here’s what Stefan showed Damon of how human life with Elena could go: bills, alcoholism, and regret. He went even darker to remind him that couples break up, and that he may think they’re “soulmates” now, but Stefan thought the same thing four years ago. When he took over his brother’s mind, he showed him that Damon will later regret it and blame Elena. Basically, human life isn’t very pretty — that was, until Damon snapped out of it and sees an old couple who are so in love, bickering and all.
When he returned back though, his mind is made up: he’s taking the cure. Here, relive that epic speech:
I’ve been a vampire for a long time, Elena. It’s been a blast, but I would give it up in a second to be your husband, your partner, the father of your kids… I can take it for us. Because even if it doesn’t work, even if it all goes to Hell, even if I’m miserable and alone, the smallest chance to have the perfect life with you is infinitely better than an immoral one without you. And I know this, Elena. I love you, and I will love you until I take my last breath on this Earth.
Oh, and that was followed by sex in a haystack. No, I’m not kidding.
Caroline & Stefan: Reunited & It Doesn’t Feel So Good
Meanwhile, Caroline (Candice Accola) returned just in time to help Elena and Bonnie (Kat Graham) prep Jo on her wedding day, but had a ton of apologizing to do: Elena, Tyler, and lastly Stefan. Once they finally came face to face at the wedding, they took a seat on a hay bail to talk (so small town of them).
After they broke the silence, Stefan grabbed her hand and told her he doesn’t hate her. They both actually admitted that they were falling for each other, but that meant giving up control — and she’s not quite ready to do that. Yes, she walked away.
A Not So Happily Ever After
During the wedding day planning, Bonnie and Matt had come up with their own plan to control Lily Salvatore, since she had been haunting Bonnie’s dreams with Kai. Unfortunately, when they got down in the cell with wooden stakes, she was gone: and Kai had let her out.
Unfortunately, we didn’t see any of the Bonnie/Kai spooning that he spoke of in her dreams, but he did show up right as Jo said her vows: and stabbed her multiple times in her stomach. And no, he didn’t wait for them to say “Until death do us part.”
He controlled the entire room, creating quite the mess: and something hit Elena, sending her tumbling to the floor. Is she dead? Well, in next week’s promo they do a lot of flashbacks. (Basically, if you haven’t watched the series, you can watch the promo and get caught up on the Stelena/Delena storyline.)
What do you think, HollywoodLifers? Is Elena dead? Will she survive the show? Let us know your thoughts. In the meantime, her’s the heartbreaking trailer for Nina’s final episode, the season six finale.
