Hailey Baldwin’s Major Hair Color Change — Copy Her New Dark Locks

Wed, May 6, 2015 2:00pm EDT by 5 Comments

Hailey Baldwin debuted a striking hair color change when she traded in her natural blonde hue for a deep brunette shade with gorgeous shine. We got all the details on the model’s new dark mane, plus tips from her colorist so you can copy the look yourself.

Forget the idea that you should dye your hair lighter for the spring and summer months, Hailey Baldwin, 18, proved that darker shades can be just as flattering when she showed off her new hair color at the 2015 Met Gala on May 4. Hailey was positively glowing with her brunette locks, and we love that this low maintenance color switch-up for summer allows you to spend more time in the sun than at the salon.

Cutler/Redken Salon Senior Colorist Ryan Pearl gave Hailey her new chocolate-y hue ahead of the highly anticipated Met Gala, making us all rethink our next color appointment. “We went for a rich brown because Hailey tans really well, plus it pops against her sweet golden eyes,” Ryan said about Hailey’s bold color change.

Since going darker is always less damaging to the hair than taking it lighter, it’s the perfect choice for summer when you’ll be spending time in the sun, ocean and chlorinated pools, which can all be harsh on your hair. To help keep it glossy and smooth like Hailey’s while helping it to maintain it’s color, use John Frieda Colour Refreshing Gloss For Cool Brunettes once a week in the shower.

To complement her new hair color, Makeup Artist Rob Scheppy gave Hailey a slight bronze and highlight you can copy with It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Silk HD Anti-Aging Airbrush Bronzer and Hello Light Anti-Aging Luminizing Créme Stick applied on the cheekbones, forehead, chin and cupid’s bow.

We’re hoping the model’s darker hair color is here to stay. Agree? Disagree? Let us know in the comments below.
