When it came to channeling the 2015 Met Gala ‘China: Through the Looking Glass’ theme, ornate headdresses were the A-lister accessory of choice. Statement-making and simplistic headdresses made their way down the 2015 Met Gala red carpet in NYC on May 4. While celebrities like Selena Gomez, 22, went for elegant floral accessories, others known for their fashion risk-taking ways, like Lady Gaga, 29, wore oversized headpieces that refused to be ignored.
The Boldest Hair Accessories At The Met Gala
Love it or hate it, Sarah Jessica Parker’s red Philip Treacy headpiece definitely got her noticed. The style star is no stranger to oversized headpieces at the Met Gala, in 2013 she famously donned a massive mohawk headdress. Other celebrities who followed SJP’s headpiece motto of more is more, included Selena’s cascading orchids and Rihanna’s swirling metallic headpiece worn across the front of her head (although in comparison to the train on her Guo Pei gown, we barely noticed it).
Celebrities who stuck to the metallic trend included Kate Hudson, who wore a cascading silver and gold floral piece and Zendaya’s sun-themed tiara. Both still made a major statement, but received more favorable reviews from fans for choosing pieces that were much more wearable.
