This is such happy news for the royal family!

Kate and William have welcomed a princess into their family. The Duchess of Cambridge went into labor in the early hours on May 2, checking into St. Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, the same hospital both her son and husband were born in. She then gave birth at about 3:34 a.m. ET to a girl weighing 8 pounds and 3 ounces. Kensington Palace confirmed the news and also reported on how mom and baby are doing:

The beautiful little one is fourth in line to the throne, behind grandfather Prince Charles, 66, father William and big bro Prince George, 1. We bet Prince George is going to be a great big brother, just like his daddy!

Kate’s Pregnancy Wasn’t Always Easy

Now that the second baby is finally here, there is lots to be happy about for their growing family.

It was so bad this time around that they were forced to announce Kate’s pregnancy in Aug. 2014 before she passed the safety of her first trimester.

Thankfully, by Oct. 2014, she was feeling much better and debuted her bump to the world when she joined William at a royal event to welcome the president of Singapore.
