If you’re looking for prom hair and makeup inspiration, look no further! Whether you want a bold lip look like Taylor or a soft smokey eye like Bella, we have expert tips for you to get the look!
Not everyone has access to their own glam squad, but celebrity makeup artist Amber Dreadon (who has worked with stars like Rita Ora, Lorde and Bethany Mota) is here to help you look amazing on the night of the big dance!
Best Prom Makeup — Copy The Hair & Makeup Look Of Taylor Swift
Celebrity Makeup Artist Amber Dreadon broke down the how to to get similar makeup as Taylor’s bold look:
“To compliment a fun bright lip, make sure you give the skin a megawatt glow. A luminous primer paired with concealer can be all you need for amazing looking skin. Apply the primer over your entire face and with a fluffy blending brush, gently buff a small amount of concealer over blemishes and lightly under the eyes.
Bright lips are perfect for an evening out. For a lasting look, lightly brush a little concealer along the edge of the lips to make sure you get a flawless edge, then outline and fill the entire lip with a lip pencil that is the same shade as your lipstick. This will give your lipstick something to grab onto for a more even look that will last throughout prom night.
When choosing a lipstick to wear to prom, look for a bright red that will make your eyes pop (this means you won’t need to wear too much eye makeup to make your eyes look defined!). If your eyes are blue or green, look for a more orange-based red. If your eyes are hazel or brown, go for a more blue-based red.”
Bella Thorne’s Soft Smokey Eye
Amber also told us how to copy Bella’s gorgeous look:
“Applying a few individual false lashes to the outer corners of the eyes can instantly make the eyes appear larger. Glasses always seem to get in the way of false lashes, so I recommend switching to contact lenses for the best result. If you don’t usually wear contact lenses, visit your eye doctor before prom to make sure you’re totally comfortable in your lenses and to give yourself time to create a beautiful frame-free look. I recommend ACUVUE Brand Contact Lenses. For contact lens wearers, be sure to insert your lenses first before applying any makeup. As always, wash and rinse your hands thoroughly with a mild soap and dry with a lint-free towel before handling so you won’t transfer any oils, creams or lotions to the lenses.
When applying the lashes, add a small amount of lash glue to each individual lash and let the glue dry for 10 seconds before pressing it onto the lash line. Try to apply them as close to the natural lash line as possible so they disappear into your own lashes.
If your look focuses on a natural reflective eye, create dimension by choosing a mid-tone bronze eyeshadow and brushing it across the entire eyelid as far as the crease. Using a firm flat eyeshadow brush, sweep a light pearlized gold eyeshadow (preferably metallic or slightly glittery) to the middle of the eyelid. This helps make the eye look more rounded and dimensional, yet minimal to the untrained eye.”
Which look would you try for prom or a night out?
