Say what? Out of all people, ex-Baltimore Ravens linebacker and former murder suspect Ray Lewis is calling for the Baltimore rioters to end their violence. In a passionate video, Ray tells the protestors to end their destruction and ‘get off the streets!’

Isn’t this just strange? Ray Lewis, 39, the legendary Baltimore Ravens linebacker and the man at the center of one of the most notorious murder trials in NFL history, has urged the Baltimore rioters to stop their destructive ways. In a series of tweets and a video, the man they called Raytorious told the angry mob setting fire to B’More that “violence is not the answer!”

Ray Lewis To Baltimore Rioters: ‘Violence is Not The Answer’

After the riots over the death of Freddie Gray, 25, ravaged Baltimore, Ray posted his pleas for peace to his Twitter account. Ray urged the people of the city to rebuild and to come together as a community. The irony that the man known for his 2000 murder trial as much as his tackle record would preach an end to violence isn’t lost on us, but we’re glad that Ray said what he did.

Ray couldn’t contain himself to twitter. He followed up his tweets with a passionate video posted to his Facebook account, telling the rioters to “go home” and “get off the streets!” Ray was visibly upset to the damage happening to his community, even pounding his fist into his hand a couple times! Why we understand why he was angry. Still, it’s better to be peaceful when calling for peace, Ray!

It’s been fifteen years since the 2000 party in Atlanta where Ray was involved in a fight that resulted in the stabbing deaths of two people. Attorneys for Ray negotiated a deal where he testified against the two other accused of the stabbing, Reginald Oakley and Joseph Sweeting. Reginald and Joseph would eventually be acquitted of the charges. Ray himself received one year probation and a $250,000 fine by the NFL. Ray would help the Ravens win the Super Bowl 48, before he announced his retirement in 2013.

Baltimore Mom Catches Her Son Rioting & Smacks Him On National TV — Watch

Ray Lewis isn’t the only person fed up with the riots. WMAR captured a confrontation between a mother and her son. When she caught her son throwing rocks at the police, she marched herself down to the scene to confront her child. She slapped him upside the head a couple times before dragging him home! Wait, mom — Ray said violence is not the answer!

What do you think about Ray Lewis’s comments, HollywoodLifers?
