How sad. More than 2,200 people have been confirmed dead after the tragic 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Nepal. One of those victims include Sophia Bush’s ex-boyfriend, Dan Fredinburg.
Sophia Bush, 32, was “devasted” to learn about the untimely death of her ex-boyfriend, Google executive Dan Fredinburg, who was killed while climbing Mt. Everest during the massive earthquake. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Sophia remembers the “damn good man” she once called her own.
Nepal Earthquake: Sophia Bush’s Ex-Boyfriend Killed
“Today I find myself attempting to pick up the pieces of my heart that have broken into such tiny shards,” Sophia wrote in a powerful and heartbreaking Instagram caption on Saturday, April 25. “I’ll likely never find them all.”
The photo she chose to share was of her ex-boyfriend, Dan Fredinburg, standing in what appears to be the rain room exhibit at the MoMA in New York City. Sadly, the message was written after Sophia found out that Dan had been killed while climbing Mt. Everest during the deadly Nepal earthquake.
Although suffering from immense heartache, Sophia was kind enough to make sure that Dan was not the only person remembered after this horrible tragedy.
“Disasters like this are often unquantifiable, the enormity is too much to understand,” her caption continued. “Please remember that each person who is now gone was someone’s Dan.” So, so sad.
Dan was the first American to be confirmed dead in the natural disaster whose death toll was at over 2,200 people on early Sunday, April 26. Not only was he Sophia’s ex, but he was also an executive at Google, and a part of The Jagged Edge climbing team — which is who he was traveling with at the time of the quake, reports People.
Sophia & Dan Called It Quits Just Over A Year Ago
This tragedy occurred just 14 months after Sophia and Dan decided to go their separate ways in Feb. 2014. Sadly, he was killed just 8 months after their split was announced to the public.
Sophia and Dan’s schedules clashed at the time, and they only saw each other about every “four weeks” or so, reports People. However, her Instagram post for Dan, who she repeatedly calls one of her closest friends, shows that they had nothing but love for each other.
“His energy is so big and so bright, and it’s all around us, so put some love toward him today,” Sophia ended her caption with.
Our thoughts go out to Dan’s family, friends, and of course Sophia during this very difficult time.
