Note to self: don’t piss off Iron Man! During a recent interview, Robert Downey Jr. got up and stormed out after he was asked some really awkward questions about his past. Click inside to WATCH!
Robert Downey Jr., 50, has always been pretty open about his bad boy past, but that doesn’t mean he wants to use it to promote his movies. The Avengers: Age Of Ultron actor made that very clear to a reporter when he got up and walked out of an interview once he was asked one-too-many irrelevant questions during a press junket for the film. Yikes!
Robert Downey Jr. Storms Out Of Interview — Watch
“What are we doing here?” a clearly agitated Robert asked Krishnan Guru-Murthy from London, England’s Channel 4 News. The question came after Krishnan uncomfortably asked the legendary actor about his history with drug abuse — even though he’s been sober since 2001.
At that point, RDJ got the okay from his publicist to end the interview. “Thank you,” he says with a smile before standing up and walking out, pausing only to have his mic removed by a cameraman.
“You seem okay, it’s just getting a little Diane Sawyer-y,” Robert tells Krishnan before walking out of the room. Krishnan laughs, and you hear a female say “thank you” one more time before the video ends. Burn!
Robert is known for being such a nice guy, so it really sucks to see him pushed over the edge like this.
Robert’s Reason For Storming Out
The first question that really ticked off Robert was about regarding something the actor said back in 2001. After giving Krishnan a pretty articulate answer, the reporter started to explain why he was asking about the past. That’s when RDJ told him, “You have as much time as anyone else.” Except not!
“You’ve talked in other interviews again about your relationship with your father and the role of all of that… the dark periods you entered and taking drugs and drinking and all of that, and I just wondered whether you were free of all that?” Krishnan asked, obviously uncomfortable confronting Robert about his rocky past.
“I’m sorry, I really don’t…. what are we doing?” Robert asked. “I’m just asking questions, that’s all,” Krishnan responded. Thankfully, that’s when Robert got the okay to end the interview-gone-wrong abruptly.
