How can ‘Full House’ be revived without the Olsen twins? Well, it can’t! At least, not in my eyes. While I’m super excited to hear that one of my favorite shows is coming back to life on Netflix, I’m saddened to hear that Mary Kate and Ashley may not be involved. ‘How rude.’
After hearing John Stamos confirm that Full House would be coming back for a reunion and subsequent spinoff series, I went from saying “You got it, dude!” to “How rude” in a matter of minutes. Don’t get me wrong — I absolutely love that one of my favorite TV shows is being revived, but I’ll only be satisfied with the final product if Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen return. Sadly, they’re still in “discussions regarding guest appearances,” according to the show’s official press release.
Olsen Twins Returning For Full House Spinoff? Mary Kate & Ashley Need To Be Back
At this moment, Candace Cameron Bure (D.J. Tanner), Jodie Sweetin (Stephanie Tanner), and Andrea Barber (Kimmie Gibbler) will be reprising their roles in Fuller House. John Stamos has also signed on for a guest-starring role. Unfortunately, Bob Saget (Danny Tanner), Dave Coulier (Uncle Joey), Lori Loughlin (Aunt Becky), and the Olsen twins (Michelle Tanner) are only in talks to appear right now. That means they haven’t signed on the dotted line!
While I remain hopeful, it doesn’t seem likely that the Olsen twins will reprise their role as Michelle Tanner. They haven’t acted together since 2004’s New York Minute, and they don’t consider themselves actors anymore.
“They don’t consider themselves actors anymore and they don’t want to return to acting even though they know how much people would love it,” a source revealed to HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “As much as everyone would want the twins to be a part of the show, it would be a current act of God and a miracle for them to make an appearance. Everyone else is down to appear on the show, but the girls are very unlikely to join in on the fun.”
Can I just say “how rude” again? Mary Kate and Ashley will be letting A LOT of fans down by not returning. And they were, essentially, the stars of the show during its run from 1987-1995. We just can’t imagine a satisfactory reunion and spinoff without the adorable Michelle. Can you? Even if the twins don’t want to act anymore, they at least owe this to their fans. Full House jumpstarted their careers, so they should repay the show that made them famous.
