OMG! It’s official! During an April 20 appearance on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live,’ John Stamos confirmed that Netflix has picked up a 13-episode ‘Full House’ reunion/spinoff series. Find out what we can expect when the beloved show returns!
Netflix, we thank you. The streaming service has ordered a 13-episode Full House spinoff series that is expected to premiere in 2016. John Stamos, 51, confirmed the Fuller House rumor on Jimmy Kimmel Live April 20, and even dished on some plot details. Get the scoop!
‘Full House’ Spinoff Confirmed By John Stamos — Details On The Series
20 years after the Full House series finale, a reunion is finally in the works. “We’ve been working on this for many, many years,” John admitted.”We were trying to do some kind of spinoff, but we wanted to give credit to the legacy. We didn’t want to just, sort of…throw it away.”
Cue Netflix. The online streaming service picked up the spinoff for 13 episodes, beginning with a one-hour reunion special. As previously reported, Fuller House will star Candace Cameron-Bure (DJ Tanner), Jodie Sweetin (Stephanie Tanner) and Andrea Barber (Kimmy Gibbler).
“Candace has three boys and it’s sort of a reversal and we turn the house over to her,” John explained. “It’s a labor of love and we’ve literally been trying for so many years to get it right and I think we finally got it perfect.”
Sadly, DJ will be widowed (no Steve?!), Deadline reports, so Stephanie and Kimmy, with a teenage daughter, move in to help out. Sound familiar?
‘Full House’ Reunion: Who Else Will Return?
But who else will return for the reunion?! According to John, who’s producing the series, “We’re going to try to get everyone in the first [episode].”
Of course, landing Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, 28, may be a bit difficult, since they’ve admittedly moved on from acting. “If we can’t get the Olsen twins, we’re going to dress you up,” the actor joked to Jimmy Kimmel.
“The continued support of Full House fans of all ages for 28 years has been astounding,” the show’s executive producers said in a statement. “It is an honor and a thrill to catch up with these beloved characters and explore their lives today. The love you saw on the show was real. The cast has remained a loving family off screen all these years. We are as excited as our fans to finally bring Full House back to life.”
The cast has proven that they’ve remained close throughout the years, most recently reuniting for show creator Jeff Franklin’s birthday in January.
This particular reunion was especially epic because cast members like John, Lori, Bob, Candace and Andrea came together to belt out the show’s classic theme song! And it was completely unreal, obviously!
HollywoodLifers, are you excited for Fuller House? What are you most excited to see in the reunion/spinoff?
