April 16 was a scary day for Lady Antebellum. The band’s tour bus burst into flames while they were driving through Texas, forcing passengers to run away from the scene for safety.
Oh no! Lady Antebellum’s tour bus was heading to Dallas ahead of the Academy Of Country Music Awards, taking place April 19, when it caught fire on the middle of the highway April 16. Read lead singer Hillary Scott’s message after the incident and find out how everyone on-board is doing!
Lady Antebellum Tour Bus Fire: Band Forced To Run For Their Lives
First and foremost — everyone who was at the scene of the fire is okay. Phew.
But that doesn’t mean the situation wasn’t completely terrifying! In a video taken by a passerby, we can see cars slowing down on the highway while approaching the bus, which is pulled over to the side of the road and engulfed in flames and black smoke.
The blaze reportedly started when one of the bus’ back tires caught on fire, according to Hillary, and those on-board had to quickly evacuate the scene.

Once everyone was safe, Hillary took to Instagram to ensure fans that everything was okay, and give an update on what went down during her hectic and scary morning.
“It was me, my husband, our tour manager and the driver,” she included in her post. Thanking God for our safety and the safety of all of those who helped put this fire out and keep us safe.”
The band is nominated for Vocal Group of the Year at the ACM’s on April 19, and are currently still expected to attend the show.
