Tears. Everywhere. Josh Groban and Kelly Clarkson recently recorded a duet, taking on the classic ‘Phantom of the Opera’ song, ‘All I Ask of You.’ Listen now– unless you aren’t wearing waterproof mascara!
This is something we didn’t know we needed. Golden throated singer Josh Groban recently announced his upcoming album, Stages, which will feature all cover songs from Broadway and West End Musicals. The 13-track compilation will be released in full on Apr. 28, but we can listen to one of the album’s songs right now– and it’s a major bonus because it features Kelly Clarkson! Listen to the two gorgeously tackle “All I Ask of You” from Broadway’s longest running musical, The Phantom of the Opera!
Josh Groban & Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Phantom Of The Opera’ Duet
Because after hearing them both belt out the plea, “love me, that’s all I ask of you,” no one else’s voices will ever really suffice again. Just listen to the song, then listen again roughly 86 more times, then you”ll understand where we’re currently at.
Other songs from Stages will include “Bring Him Home” from Les Misérables, “Children Will Listen”/”Not While I’m Around” from Sweeney Todd/Into the Woods and “If I Loved You” from Carousel (which will surely be another astounding duet as it will feature six-time Tony winner and upcoming star of the live action Beauty and the Beast, Audra McDonald).
Inspired By Theater
We aren’t the only ones who are moved by this gorgeous song. Actually, Josh said that music from Phantom as well as other pieces of theater, have been some of his greatest inspirations. “Nothing has inspired me more in my life than the energy that is shared in a theater when great songs and great art are on the stage,” Josh said in a statement. “I wanted this album to pay tribute to those inspirations and memories.”
We’re sure the album will achieve that goal and then some when it is released in full.
Are you excited for Stages? What do you think of Josh and Kelly’s duet?
