‘Spider-Man’: New Movie To Feature Teenage Peter Parker As Superhero

With news that Andrew Garfield won’t be spinning his web as Spider-Man anymore, we were very worried. But now, Marvel boss Kevin Feige has CONFIRMED that we’ll get a teen Spidey for the next installment of the hit franchise. That definitely cheered us up!

To be honest, we’re still reeling from the news that Andrew Garfield, 31, won’t be returning as Spider-Man, but this news about the next revamp of the superhero has us excited! Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige, 41, has revealed that the next movie in the hit franchise will feature a teen Spidey! Yep, we’re going to see Peter Parker go through his awkward high school years.

Teen Spider-Man: Peter Parker To Be Younger In New Movie

“In terms of the age of an actor we’ll eventually to cast, I don’t know. In terms of the age of what we believe Peter Parker is, I’d say 15-16 is right,” Kevin told Collider. “We want to play with Spider-Man in the high school years because frankly there’ve been five Spider-Man films, and the amazing thing about it is, even though there’ve been five Spider-Man films, there are so many things from the comics that haven’t been done yet.”

Kevin’s right! We would welcome a different slant on the story — and Peter’s teen years would definitely be the right way to go.

“Not just characters or villains or supporting characters, but sides to his character,” Kevin continued. “The most obvious being the ‘young, doesn’t quite fit in’ kid before his powers, and then the fella that puts on a mask and swings around and fights bad guys and doesn’t shut up, which is something we want to play with and we’re excited about.”

And so are we, Kevin! Our faith in the series of movies is restored! And that’s got us thinking — who could be the next Spider-Man?

Dylan O’Brien: Is The ‘Teen Wolf’ Star The Next Spider-Man?

As we previously reported, Teen Wolf star Dylan O’Brien has been considered as a possibility to take on the role of Peter Parker.

Sony Pictures plans to set its next film in the franchise inside Midtown High School, according to Variety. Of course, a younger setting means a younger leading man. No official casting announcement has been made just yet, but there’s certainly an eye on The Maze Runner hunk as casting speculation runs rampant.

Who do you think should play the next Spider-Man, HollywoodLifers? Let us know!
