Shailene Woodley Wins Trailblazer Award At 2015 MTV Movie Awards
Shailene Woodley took home the Trailblazer Award at the 2015 MTV Movie Awards – and we couldn’t be more proud! After such an incredible year, this honor is very well-deserved for the ‘Divergent’ actress.
Get it, girl! After stealing our hearts in roles like Tris Prior in Divergent, as well as Hazel Grace Lancaster in The Fault In Our Stars, Shailene Woodley, 23, was recognized at the 2015 MTV Movie Awards on April 12 with their annual Trailblazer Award. Joining the ranks of Channing Tatum, 34, Emma Stone, 26, and Emma Watson, 24, who have all won the same award in the past – Shailene is joining a pretty elite group of “Trailblazers.”
The award was presented to her by her former Spectacular Now co-star, Miles Teller. Miles’ heartfelt introduction for his now Insurgent co-star, Shailene, included fun little stories about the star — like the time she brought her own mason jar to meet with him, as well as the time she sold all of her belongings, lived out of a suitcase, and slept on her friends’ couches.
The heartfelt comments actually made Shailene cry. Aw! Obviously touched, she followed up Miles’ sweet remarks with an emotional speech, quoting past winner, Emma Stone. Shailene noted that, though the Trailblazer Award honors individuals, individuals need support from a community.
“We can’t be ourselves without people to reflect back to us who we really are,” she explained. Well said, Shai!
Shailene’s Advice? ‘Blaze On!’
Shailene made a point to thank those who have been “pillars for her” and promised to continue to be “pillars” for those who look up to her.
She ended her speech in typical Shailene fashion. After realizing she accidentally made a weed joke by encouraging others by saying, “Let’s all blaze on!” she quickly corrected herself. She amended her message and left the crowd with the following sentiment, “Let’s trailblazer on!”
