Talk about an impromptu performance! After Harry criticized Nick Fradiani’s performance of Katy Perry’s ‘Teenage Dream’ on April 8’s ‘American Idol’, Ryan Seacrest made Harry get his ‘Teenage Dream’ on — and it’s absolutely incredible. Watch his performance here!

American Idol has never been better. Idol judge Harry Connick Jr.47, attempted to put Nick Fradiani, 29, in his place after tearing apart his cover of Katy Perry‘s “Teenage Dream” during Billboard Hits Week. Host Ryan Seacrest40, egged Harry to come on stage to perform his rendition, and before we know it, he’s breaking into Katy’s hit song and is serenading co-judge Jennifer Lopez45!

Harry Connick Jr. Sings Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream On ‘American Idol’

Harry clearly had every bit of confidence in his cover of “Teenage Dream!” Before being brought up on stage he told Ryan, “I’d like to get a piece of ‘Teenage Dream,’ I think I can sing the hell out of that!” He even jokes it’s the name of his next tour and fans go wild!

He then comes on stage, claiming to not know the words, but Nick helps him out a little bit before he belts a jazzy version of the song. We love it! Nick strums along on guitar and Ryan even tries to join in, but Harry is clearly stealing the show.

‘American Idol’ Recap: Top 8 Perform

OK, well he does stumble over the words a bit — a lot — and changes the tune, but hey, we give him credit for the impromptu performance! He had tons of energy going throughout it, and we loved when he serenades JLo while Keith Urban runs away. So funny!

While Harry’s performance was definitely different from Nick’s performance, and Katy’s for that matter, we’ve got to hand it to him for bringing down the house in his jazzy take! It was without a doubt one of the best moments of the night.
