Surprise! Barry Manilow and his longtime manager, Garry Kief, allegedly tied the knot last year in a private ceremony, a new report claims.
How exciting! Barry Manilow, 71, reportedly married his longtime manager, Garry Kief, last year in a super secret ceremony. It was so secret, a new report claims, that the “20 to 30 guests” thought they were attending a “lunch.” How very Britney Spears of him! (Britney and Kevin Federline also pulled off a surprise wedding in September 2004.)
Garry Kief & Barry Manilow Married — Couple Weds In Secret Ceremony
“It was a surprise,” a friend of the couple told the National Enquirer of the wedding. The private ceremony was reportedly held at the “Copacabana” singer’s Palm Springs home. And Barry’s neighbor, Suzanne Somers, was the best man.
Apparently, Barry and Garry wanted to keep their marriage so secret that they didn’t even sign any official paperwork, the National Enquirer claims. They do, however, wear wedding bands and “are committed to one another and have been for a very long time,” a source told PEOPLE.
“They have a great relationship. Garry has always been there for Barry,” the friend also told the National Enquirer. “It’s a beautiful love affair that has lasted more than 30 years.”
Barry Manilow: Afraid Fans Won’t Accept That He’s Gay
Barry also hid the relationship because he was afraid of how his fans would react to the fact that he’s gay.
“Barry is paranoid that his fans would not approve of him being gay, when in reality, many have suspected it for years – and most wouldn’t care,” the source said. “They would be happy for him!”
HollywoodLife.com reached out to Barry’s reps, but they had no comment.
