Nearly two years after the horrifying bombing at the Boston Marathon, a jury has decided that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 21, is guilty every count he was charged with (30 total), including several that make him eligible for the death penalty, due to his role in the violent and deadly attack. The group deliberated for 11.5 hours before making a united choice on April 8, and following the announcement of their decision, celebrities flocked to Twitter to react.
Boston Marathon Bombing Verdict: Celebrity Reactions
Tsarnaev was a student at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth when the Boston Marathon bombings, that killed three people and injured hundreds occurred. His brother, Tamerian Tsarnaev, another suspect, died in a shootout with police after the explosions.
Dzhokhar received guilty verdicts on charges including bombing in a public place, weapons of mass destruction, possession of firearm in a crime that resulted in death, and dozens of others. The massive decision came after weeks of testimonies from the Apr. 15, 2013 bombings.
Tamerian Tsarnaev, Dzohkhar’s brother, was also a suspect in the attacks, but was killed during a shootout with police at the scene.
