Don’t worry, ‘TVD’ fans — I am pretty sure that the show will be okay, if not better, without Nina Dobrev’s whiny Elena Gilbert there to continue messing with everyone’s hearts.
Nina Dobrev, 26, has finally decided to step back from her role as Elena Gilbert on the hit CW series, The Vampire Diaries. While many fans of the show remain devastated that they are losing their all-time favorite female lead, I , on the other hand, have an entirely different opinion that starts with two words: good riddance!
‘The Vampire Diaries’ Will Survive Without Nina Dobrev
I know that it really sucks to see Nina/Elena go, especially when the CW has already confirmed the show will go on without her. But, I have to admit, I’m tired of Elena — and I was thrilled to hear she’s going to leave soon!
Maybe that sounds harsh, but as someone who has been watching from the very first episode, I have reached my fill of Elena’s whining. Not only that, but she has gotten so boring. Let’s be honest, she was the most interesting this season when Caroline snapped her neck just so she could turn off her humanity switch.
While Elena’s storyline got pretty boring in her final season, it also left room for us to get attached to some of her supporting characters. For example, Caroline is practically a main character now with everything going on in her TV life, and now that Bonnie is back she’s a total wacko in disguise.
Watching those two spread their wings has been so much more fun than watching Elena continuously put herself and everyone else in unnecessary danger.
There’s also just nothing in store for Elena what-so-ever. Her whole family is dead, except her brother who bailed and skipped town, and, aside from her rekindled romance with Damon, everything that could be even remotely interesting has already happened to her.
Elena No Longer Belongs With A Salvatore Brother
Speaking of Delena, am I really the only person who is totally over that saga of a love story? While it was really sweet that he managed to woo her back into his arms when he returned from 1995’s purgatory world, it almost seemed too easy.
I don’t want to say that she’s better than Damon or even my personal favorite brother, Stefan, but there is something about Elena that makes it seem as if she’s no longer the right fit for either of them. In fact, Elena, who was once meant to be our heroine, has really set a bad example when it comes to love. First, she loved Stefan, then she loved his brother, then she erased all of the good memories of Damon out of her mind only to fall back in love with someone she feels strongly is nothing but a psychopath. Ugh.
Stefan has long moved on from Elena and is now running rampant with Caroline, and Damon… well, I’m just going to say it: he has Bonnie.
