Cody Simpson decided to kick off Spring with a warm, bubbly jam called…’Thotful?’ Yes, this sweet sounding song is all about a woman who is nice and sweet to everybody but him. Take a listen and see what you think!
How thoughtful! Or in this case, is it “thotful?” As fans eagerly await his upcoming album, Cody Simpson, 18, decided to treat them by sharing a brand new song about love, loss and a woman who takes all your money. Fortunately he’s not talking about girlfriend Gigi Hadid, 19!
Cody Simpson’s Song ‘Thotful’ – Singer Offers Preview Of New Album
Sharing another selection from his upcoming album, Free, due out in the summer of 2015, the singer debuted the song “Thotful” with MTV on Apr.7. It’s a not a typo: Cody’s song is definitely centered around a “thot,” that derogatory slang for a woman with an active sex life.
The song itself is a sunny, breezy tune that blends reggae and folk rock while invoking images of the Australian coastlines of Cody’s homeland. In the vein of John Mayer and Jack Johnson, it’s a pleasant and fun sounding acoustic guitar-powered tune. Then the lyrics kick in:
She makes you wish upon a dandelion
While she picks some money off your tree
She’ll be anything to anyone
But she gives nothing back to me
’cause she’s so Thotful
Thotful as she can be
She’s so Thotful
But she don’t ever think about me
Cody breaks it down, talking about the heartache of loving a woman who pays attention to anyone but him, favoring a guy with money over Cody and his guitar. It’s almost like the 2015 beach version of Chris Brown‘s “Loyal.”

Cody Simpson Ignores Gigi Hadid’s Kisses & Sweet PDA At Knicks Game — Pics
Cody’s new song is about a girl “who never thinks about [him.]” Clearly, he’s not talking about his girlfriend, Gigi, who was all over the singer during an Apr.1 Knicks game. The two enjoyed some PDA, though, at times, it seems that Cody seemed annoyed with Gigi’s affections. Maybe Cody can stand to be a little more “thoughtful” himself, especially when his girlfriend wants to give him a kiss.
What do you think about Cody’s new song, HollywoodLifers?
