It was all about the Dillard baby on tonight’s back-to-back episodes of ’19 Kids And Counting’. The Duggar family has been anxiously waiting to find out the gender of baby Dilly, so Jill and Derick throw a gender reveal party.
On the back-to-back April 7 episodes of 19 Kids & Counting, the Duggars come together to celebrate the announcement of baby Dilly’s gender, Joy steps up as the jurisdiction leader, Jill and Derick take on birthing classes and we finally find out if their child is going to be a bouncing baby boy or a sweet little princess.
’19 Kids & Counting’ Recap: Jill & Derick Throw Gender Reveal Party
On tonight’s first episode, Jill and Derick head to their ultrasound to find out if they’re having a little boy or girl. They decide to bring along Jill’s buddy group consisting of siblings James, Joy and Jennifer. The group first makes a stop off at a party store to stock up on both pink and blue baby decorations for the gender reveal party. Then they head to Jill’s ultrasound and accompany her into the room where the nurses tell them all the baby’s gender. But mums the word, because the group doesn’t want anyone to know until the big Duggar party.
Back at the Dillard house, the buddy group sets up all the decorations, the food and stuffs the piñata — which holds the correct color of candy that corresponds to baby Dillard’s gender. Once the Duggars arrive, everyone lines up to take their swing at the packed piñata. Within minutes it breaks apart revealing that baby Dilly is a boy! Now, Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar have three grandsons and one granddaughter!
Derick’s mother Cathy is still receiving cancer treatments in Omaha, so she can’t attend the gender reveal party. That doesn’t mean she’s going to miss out on all the excitement. The couple have Derick’s brother Dan fly out and surprise her at the hospital. Before he gets to the treatment center, Dan picks up two bouquets of flowers, one blue and one pink. As soon as the baby’s gender is revealed, Derick calls his brother with the news. Dan then surprises Cathy and walks into her hospital room with the blue flowers. It was a very touching moment for the Dillard family.
The Duggars Receive New Jurisdictions
Now that Jessa and Jill are out of the house, the Duggar children need new jurisdictions (chores). Joy takes over Jessa‘s old job and delegates the new list of chores to the remaining siblings. Hands down everyone agrees that both the laundry and cleaning the bathrooms (keep in mind there are 9 of them) are the worst chores to receive — and we couldn’t agree more. The little kids will have to handle more of the easier household chores, while the older ones take on the property jurisdictions with Jim Bob.
Poor little Josie gets assigned the task of handling the laundry, which she handles like a champ. Meanwhile, her older brother Jer winds up being the one who gets the wonderful task of cleaning the bathrooms.
A bunch of the kids also help get the family dog [Buddy] clean. Michelle brings them all to a local dog wash, where the kids wind up having a blast getting their precious pet clean. Poor Buddy didn’t seem to enjoy it as much as Josie though.
Jill & Derick Attend Their First Birthing Class
Both Jill and Derick want to have a natural home birth, so they sign up for a weekly birthing class that will teach them different labor positions that will help ease Jill’s contractions. They spend the class trying out multiple soothing techniques that will allow Jill to feel more comfortable the day she goes into labor. Derick’s fun goofy personality helps his wife feel more comfortable and at ease while they figure out the best positions together. All in all, Jill feels confident that Derick will be the perfect birthing coach come the big day.
Speaking of the big day, little Israel Dillard was born just yesterday, April 6 and will make his big TV debut on TLC in May — how exciting!
