The Droughtlander is OVER! ‘Outlander’ returns April 4, and HollywoodLife.com got incredible scoop on Jamie, Claire and more straight from the stars!
It’s been six long months since the last new episode of Outlander aired. We can all dry up our tears because the hit show is back! HollywoodLife.com spoke to Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan — our beloved Claire and Jamie — and they dished all about the tensions that will complicate Jamie and Claire’s relationship in the second half of the season and how their relationship will be moving forward.
‘Outlander’: Jamie & Claire’s Relationship To Evolve In Season 1B
Claire and Jamie became one of the best and hottest TV couples to ever grace the small screen when Outlander premiered in Aug. 2014. Their relationship was a “slow burn,” but we finally made it to their wedding and those sexy scenes. (You know what I’m talking about.)
At the show’s NYC midseason premiere in New York City, Caitriona and Sam whet our appetites on what to expect after the Droughtlander ends.
“I think one of the main things is that up until to this point — this was the falling in love and the romance,” Caitriona told HollywoodLife.com. “It’s been sort of the honeymoon period. They are two people from very different times. They have different moral codes, they have different ways of approaching things. I think that that tension really comes into play, and I feel that even though they may not be able to accept each other’s actions always, they really have to find a way to understand where the other is coming from and, in that way, sort of build of bridge to make their relationship stronger.”
Squeals! Sam (swoon) also revealed that Claire and Jamie’s relationship is going to be moving forward, but it’s going to get “darker.” For those of you who have read the books, you know where this is going.
“It [their relationship] gets more complicated, darker and they don’t always see eye to eye,” Sam told HollywoodLife.com. “Ultimately, they have to come to a conclusion and that’s sort of the great part of any relationship. They learn from each other and their relationship moves forward and doesn’t just stagnate.”
Count me in! Jamie and Claire’s romance has effortlessly transcended from page to screen, and I’m looking forward to what the season has in store for my favorite couple. Yes, I know steamy scenes are on the menu, and I’m beyond excited. Sam and Caitriona’s chemistry is undeniable and simply off the charts.
Outlander returns April 4 at 9/8c on Starz.
