Khloe Kardshian-Inspired Highlights — Expert Steps

Don’t you just love Leilah’s prom-perfect highlights? Colorist Joanna Pinto gave us all of her secrets as to how she achieved the celebrity-inspired look! According to Joanna, Leilah was tired of her dark hair, so she showed Joanna a photo of hair superstar Khloe Kardashian, 30. Leilah liked the cool blonde tones in Khloe’s hair, and Joanna knew exactly how to give Leilah the look.

“I started by infusing highlights throughout the hair and infusing some on her ends simultaneously. This would give her ends an overall lighter more solid look, which is what we were aiming for,” Joanna told us. “I made sure to slice thin highlights around the hairline so it would brighten her face, thus bringing out her eyes.”

After the highlights were done, Joanna gave Leilah a toner at the sink that “not only deposited the cool beige tone she liked, it softened her natural a little to give her a softer more blended look.”

There you have it: straight from the expert on how to get a soft, natural color for your next special event!

Gorgeous Prom Hairstyle — Get A Pretty Braid In Three Easy Steps

You don’t need to spend hours getting an elaborate updo — this beautiful braided style can be done in just three steps. Stylist Mia Moore gave us her tips!

First, Mia blow-dried Leilah’s hair. No products were necessary — she simply used the heat from the dryer to create shine and eliminate flyaways and frizz. Next, Mia sectioned off the hair to be braided. With a little hair wax on her hands for control, Mia used the lace braid technique to create the look. She finished with hairspray, and Leilah was all set for prom!

This style is great because it’s an easy and pretty look for an extra-fancy occasion, but can also work for date nights or dinners out with friends. Of course, it’s also about the clothing and accessories — and make sure you check out our prom dress gallery to find that perfect gown to go with your hairstyle!

Prom-Perfect Beauty: Get The Look Here

For Leilah’s beauty look, makeup artist Katherine Dorn used a matte brown and plum shadow in the crease with a touch of champagne sparkle pigment on the lids. To define Leilah’s eyes, she used a black gel liner to make a soft wing and lots of black mascara. As for the face, she evened out Leilah’s skin with Face Stockholm’s Picture Perfect Foundation and a light pink blush to warm up the face. Finally, she applied a little Face Stockholm Cream Lipstick in Truth and some gloss for shine.
