In case you were hoping that Marvel’s ‘Deadpool’ would be a bit darker than other family-friendly comic book flicks, then you’re in luck! The film will indeed be rated R, as revealed in a hilarious video featuring Ryan Reynolds and ‘Extra’ host Mario Lopez.
A new video, which shows Ryan Reynolds, 38, being interviewed by Mario Lopez, 41, in a mock Extra segment, confirms that Deadpool, unlike many Marvel-based movies before it, will be rated R. In the clip, Ryan does his best to put on a brave face about a PG-13 rating, but the interview is quickly cut short when Deadpool arrives and knocks out Mario, while also saying “F*** you, Slater.” And that’s not the only Saved by the Bell reference made in this hilarious new video — watch it here!
Ryan Reynolds Reacts To ‘Deadpool’ Rating — Tells Mario Lopez ‘F*** You Slater’
Ryan’s voiceover then says, “April Fools’! Deadpool will of course be rated R.” And as Deadpool holds up a drawing of Mario being killed, Ryan says, “Don’t worry, Jessie. Slater can’t hurt you anymore.”
Obviously, he’s poking fun at Mario Lopez’s onscreen love affair with Elizabeth Berkley‘s character in the ’90s series, Saved by the Bell. And because of that, this is our favorite April Fools’ Joke — ever!
After this video emerged on Joblo, Fox also confirmed that Deadpool will indeed be rated R.
What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Are you shocked by Deadpool‘s R rating? Vote in our poll and tell us how you feel!
