‘Project Runway’ winner, Dmitry Sholokhov, stopped by our New York office and gave us the scoop on winning project runway…twice! He also dished on which celebs he’s dying to dress, and filled us in on life post-‘Runway.’ Could he be the next E! ‘Fashion Police’ judge? Listen to his EXCLUSIVE interview below!
Dmitry Sholokhov has gone into the Project Runway hall of fame after winning both Season 10 and Season 4 of Project Runway: All Stars! Of course, winning the famed reality show has it’s perks, but what is he up to now? Get the deets below.
‘Project Runway’ Winner Dmitry Sholokhov: Next Stop ‘Fashion Police’?
When we asked Dmitry how he felt after bringing home the big W, all he had to say was “I can’t believe it, I did it twice!” He was up against tough competition for the season finale, and even though some may have though Helen or Sonjia should’ve won, Dmitry could care less.
“I think everyone is allowed to have an opinion. You know what they say about opinions. It’s only normal, and in this industry, you have to have a thick skin to survive. Of course I get upset sometimes, but I try to ignore things and focus on my work.”
Speaking of work, Dmitry’s final collection was amazing and he made a wearable version to be sold on QVC. He “wanted to keep that runway drama but make it more approachable and affordable and wearable but still keep it fashionable.” We’d say it was a mission accomplished!
Dmtry Sholokhov Wants To Dress Jennifer Lawrence & Angelina Jolie:
Every designer’s dream is to see their creations on the red carpet, and Dmitry has a few celebs he’s itching to create for. “I’d love to dress Jennifer Lawrence, Tilda Swinton, and Angelina Jolie. Those particular celebrities have a very specific style, strong aesthetics, and it’s interesting to work with women who are not afraid to take risks and not afraid to be different.”
Until that big moment happens, Jennifer Lopez has been his favorite on the runway this awards season. “I’m not a huge fan of princess dresses, but this particular [Oscars] dress was very memorable...Jennifer Lopez just stood out.”
According to Dimtry, JLo’s look was right on trend: “I think the nude color is always in trend, but everything is very embellished and heavily beaded this season. We’re done with minimal styles, it’s all about embellishments and drama.”
Dmtry Sholokhove: “I’m Working On 16 Collections”
So what is the style star up to now? He told us at Hollywoodlife.com, “I’ve been very busy. I started teaching at Parsons. For me, it’s a second home. I’m working on 16 collections with [students]. It’s a lot of clothes, but it’s mutually beneficial. I get inspired, I inspire them.”
He is also judging the New York auditions for the upcoming Project Runway, and as far as his future in television goes, Dmitry has big aspirations!
“They do have an opening [At E! Fashion Police], right? Can I audition? They need a designer! Enough women, it should be 50/50, two guys, two women – fair.”
We’d love to see him on E! but we can only hope! Would you like to see Dmitry as a Fashion Police host, HollywoodLifers? Comment and let us know!
