Tyler — we all know how much you love Catelynn, but in the second episode of ‘Teen Mom OG’, I was shocked to see your reaction when she told you how much weight she had put on.
Tyler Baltierra, you are one of my favorite stars on Teen Mom OG. You’ve stuck by Catelynn Lowell through thick and thin and continue to impress me with your parenting. That aside, you were a bit out of line for making Catelynn feel ashamed of gaining 20lbs in the first few months of her pregnancy.
‘Teen Mom OG’: Tyler You Shouldn’t Have Made Catelynn Feel Bad About Her Weight Gain
First off, you are one of the few good guys in the Teen Mom world. So, that’s why it’s hard to wrap my head around the March 30 episode of Teen Mom OG.
During this episode you asked Catelynn how much weight she had gained during her first pregnancy. Then you continued to probe her about the pounds she put on thus far with her second pregnancy. Of course, I know you weren’t trying to be mean, but it came off really harsh.
You should know by now that pregnant women are VERY emotional, especially when it comes to their changing bodies. Pregnancy is supposed to be a very happy time and women shouldn’t feel insecure about gaining weight. I would rather see Catelynn pack on a few pounds, instead of trying to starve herself. And I know you agree.
Yes, you were right that on average women should be gaining 2 to 4 pounds during the first three months and 1 pound a week during the rest of a pregnancy. Even though Catelynn admitted to gaining a lot more than that, that doesn’t mean she isn’t healthy. Women’s pregnancy diets fluctuate by the person, and Catelynn shouldn’t feel embarrassed by the additional pounds she has put on.
Obviously you weren’t trying to rip her apart, but you went about it the wrong way. If you would have researched a little bit more on healthier alternatives to certain foods that Catelynn loves — like pizza — and presented it to her, that would be perfectly fine. If you were worried the rapid weight gain was unhealthy, you could have suggested meeting with the doctor just to make sure both Catelynn and the baby were fine.
Maybe you were just worried about how Catelynn would feel about her body after she gave birth, because it’s very hard for most women to shed the added pounds. But, I have to side with Catelynn. When a pizza craving comes, you can’t help but indulge. How about this, if you and Catelynn decide to have another child, take on the role of chef and help cook up more healthier dishes to indulge in.
Tyler You Are A Huge Support System For Your Fiancée
Tyler, you are the sweetest when it comes to complimenting your fiancée. You constantly post pictures on social media with such loving captions. You prove time and time again that you adore her and that she is the most beautiful person in the world. I love it.
On Feb 22, you posted an adorable picture of you both on Instagram and captioned it, “I cant wait to make this beautiful woman my bride in 6 months. I’m the luckiest man in the world to have such an incredible god sent angel by my side. @catelynnmtv you will never know what a blessing you have been to my life, so it looks like I will be spending the rest of my days proving it to you as your husband #MyBaby#SrongestWomanIKnow #PureAngel #BrideToBe“.
I mean, you can’t get any sweeter than that! That being said, I won’t hold the March 30 episode against you. I very much look forward to seeing you continue to grow as a father, a soon-to-be husband and a overall person.
