‘The Daily Show’ has found its replacement. Trevor Noah, 31, will replace Jon Stewart on the ‘Comedy Central’ show, he revealed on March 30.
In December, comedian Trevor Noah joined The Daily Show With Jon Stewart as a contributor. Now, just three months later — and after only three appearances on the show, he will replace the one and only Jon Stewart! So, who is Trevor Noah?
Trevor Noah Hosting ‘The Daily Show’
“You don’t believe it for the first few hours,” Noah told The New York Times about his new job on a call from Dubai. “You need a stiff drink, and then unfortunately you’re in a place where you can’t really get alcohol.”
Trevor may be a new face to many of us, but is well-known in South Africa and even hosted his own radio shows, and a late-night talk show. He even once hosted the South African Music Awards! He was the first South African comedian to ever appear on The Late Show with David Letterman and The Tonight Show.
“I never thought I’d be more afraid of police in America than in South Africa. It kind of makes me a little nostalgic for the old days, back home,” he told the Times.
He also tweeted:
No-one can replace Jon Stewart. But together with the amazing team at The Daily Show, we will continue to make this the best damn news show!

Jon Stewart & Comedy Central Confident In New Decision
“I’m thrilled for the show and for Trevor,” Jon, 52, said in a statement. “He’s a tremendous comic and talent that we’ve loved working with,” he continued, adding that he “may rejoin as a correspondent just to be a part of it!!!”
After Jon made his announcement in February that he would be stepping down later this year, many names were thrown into the hat — Tina Fey, Samantha Bee, etc. but Comedy Central is confident in their choice.
“We talked to women. We talked to men. We found in Trevor the best person for the job,” Michele Ganeless, the Comedy Central president, said in a statement. “You don’t hope to find the next Jon Stewart – there is no next Jon Stewart. So, our goal was to find someone who brings something really exciting and new and different.”
What do you think of Jon’s replacement, HollywoodLifers?
