Celine Dion’s Husband Dying Of Cancer — Her Heartbreaking Interview
“I am scared of losing him, because it’s bad. But I have to show myself, my husband and my kids that I’m strong and we’re okay,” she told People magazine.
In August of 2014, Celine announced she was postponing Vegas residency show indefinitely to take care of her husband after his throat surgery.
“When I stopped performing, I wanted to be just a wife and a mother,” she said. After Rene was diagnosed with cancer for a third time, he urged his wife to resume her Vegas show.
“He wants me to sing again, and I want to do this with him,” she said through tears. “René will be in the audience,” she said about opening night. “I promise there will be high, happy notes, but it’s going to be very emotional for me.”
Celine also talked to ABC’s Good Morning America about the heartbreaking fight her husband is battling.
Celine opened up about Rene’s recovery and how she’s been by his side every step of the way. While wiping away tears, Celine talked about how Rene’s throat cancer has made it difficult for him to eat.
“He can’t use his mouth. He can’t eat. So I feed him. He has a feeding tube. I have to feed him three times a day,” she said.
Rene was first diagnosed with throat cancer in 1999 but recovered after treatment. A second cancer diagnosis required a tumor to be removed from his throat in Dec.2013, reports Entertainment Tonight.
Our hearts are breaking for Celine and her family and we totally support her decision to get back on stage in Vegas! You go girl.
