Raven-Symoné Defends Journalist Who Compared Michelle Obama To Apes — Watch

She did what? Raven-Symone somehow managed to defend the indefensible, claiming that Rodner Figueroa wasn’t wrong when he said that our First Lady, Michelle Obama, looks like an ape.

Raven-Symone, 29, is now in the hot seat after declaring that she doesn’t think Univision host Rodner Figueroa was being racist when he stated that Michelle Obama looks like an ape. Not only did her defense of the racially charged remark on The View piss off co-host Rosie Perez, but now the Empire actress has started to defend herself on social media. Oops!

This is getting ugly, especially now that Raven-Symone has added her own view on the subject. Unfortunately, her view isn’t the same as everyone else’s.

At the 8:40 mark in the video above, the topic switches to Rodner Figueroa’s inappropriate comment about FLOTUS looking like she walked right off the set of The Planet Of The Apes film was brought up. Even though Rosie quickly jumped in to declare the comment racist, Raven-Symone chimed in and asked, “Was he saying it racist-like?”

This quickly upset Rosie as well as Whoopi Goldberg, who slammed Raven-Symone’s suggestion that Rodner said he “voted for her,” reminding the young actress that was never a possibility. She was never up for office!

Making things even worse, Raven-Symone then said, “Michelle, don’t fire me from this right now, but some people look like animals.” So, was that her way of agreeing with Rodner? Because, ouch.

Raven-Symone Defends Herself After Comments

“Some comments are rude, some are disrespectful, and some are racist. Try to not exchange one for the other,” Raven-Symone wrote on Twitter after viewers turned on her and slammed her for her opinion on the controversial matter.

Clearly, she’s really upset about the way everyone is reacting to her defending Rodner’s comments.

“My opinion/comments arn’t based off race, that doesn’t mean I’m trying to be a different race all together. I love OUR history, family….,” her defensive rant continued.

Unfortunately, it might just be too little, too late at this point.
