Well, this is an interesting request. Terrence Howard thinks ‘Empire,’ the hit Fox show on which he stars, needs to push the boundaries even further. Specifically, he thinks it needs to make use of the N word!
Easy there, Lucious. Empire star Terrence Howard believes the show needs to be more realistic– with the use of one word in particular. Yup, Terrence insists that the hip hop-centric series should make utilize the N word. In fact, Terrence thinks not using it is actually a form of bigotry! Find out why!
Terrence Howard: N-Word Should Be Used On ‘Empire’
This is somewhat unusual.
Terrence is thrilled to be starring on the massive hit Empire, however, he thinks the show is seriously lacking in one area in particular: not using the N word.
“Why is TV showing something different from the reality of the world? Why is there a thing called censorship that stop people from hearing everyday talk?” Terrence said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “We use n—- every day. It’s become part of a conversation—why aren’t we using it in the show?”
‘It’s A Gate For Bigotry’
Terrence’s discussion of the show’s realism did not stop there though. “If we start getting silly, if we start playing to people’s fancies, then we don’t deserve to be where we are,” he said. “It’s a big pressure because I want to be a truth-sayer. I want to raise the bar. I want to get rid of this f—ed up word called PC. I think it’s a gate for bigotry because as long as you’re politically correct you can say anything you want but feel some way different.”
Whether or not Empire should take Terrence’s suggestion is certainly a controversial decision, however, the show is no stranger to tackling intense subjects. In the first season alone, it has addressed homophobia, bipolar disorder, drug addiction and murder…amongst many, many other things.
