The Justin Bieber Roast was meant to be funny, but this time some comedians crossed the line by using the death of Paul Walker as the butt of their jokes! Read them below and let us know if you thought they were offensive.
Selena Gomez jokes are one thing, but Paul Walker jokes? Not so funny. Comedy Central released a statement on March 17, revealing that the jokes about the late actor will be cut from the roast of Justin Bieber broadcast on March 30 — and Justin actually is happy about it.
Paul Walker Jokes Cut From Justin Bieber Roast
“I’m not saying Martha Stewart is old, but she needs a new Walker more than the Fast and Furious franchise,” Natasha Leggero said on stage.
But she wasn’t the only one! Jeff Ross joked right to Ludacris, a friend of Paul’s, quoting his song.
“‘Move bitch! Get out the way!’ That’s what Paul Walker should’ve said to that tree,” he said, to which he received many boos. “Too soon? Too fast? Too furious? Give me a break, people! I’m trying to save this kid’s life.”
Luda also reportedly motioned to the cameras that he was not happy with the jokes. Paul passed away in November 2013 after a fiery car crash, so it definitely seemed distasteful.
Comedy Central Release Statement
Luda wasn’t the only one offended — Justin said in the press room that he really didn’t like the the Paul Walker cracks. Now, Comedy Central has also released a statement saying that they were officially not using the jokes in the broadcast.
“Roasts often push the limits of good taste and we give the participants full reign to try things knowing we have the edit to shape the show,” a Comedy Central spokesperson said in a statement. “Sometimes the line is discovered by crossing it. The Paul Walker references will not be in the telecast.”
Are you happy the network is removing the jokes? Let us know.
