On the March 15 episode of The Walking Dead, we finally get some one-on-one time with the group’s resident genius, Eugene (Josh McDermitt). With some help from Tara (Alanna Masterson), Eugene gets a cold, hard reminder of the threat that still exists outside of Alexandria — and also tries to convince Tara that he’s the reason they are still alive. Say what?
Well, well, well, look who is still thriving: it’s Eugene! Even though he more or less took a back burner to Rick and Carol as they tried adjusting inside Alexandria, we finally get to see how he’s adjusting to his new life.
Unfortunately for him, his new life hasn’t kept him completely safe from harm just yet. The notoriously terrified Eugene has somehow been convinced to go beyond the walls by Tara, and, of course, while they’re out there she seems to be the only one defending them.
In the preview above, Tara tells Eugene he has to man up and learn how to take care of himself, just like she did. But, Eugene doesn’t think that’s true. In fact, he’s convinced he’s the reason the group found Alexandria — or, better yet, was found by Alexandria — based on his previous suggestions about Washington, D.C. You know, when he still had everyone convinced he knew a cure to save the world.
Tara isn’t exactly convinced, and the two get into a heated conversation about the harsh realities of where they are and how they got there. But, can Tara really keep herself and Eugene protected outside of the walls, or will he be forced to save his own life later in the episode?
Make sure to tune in to AMC at 9/8c to see how it all goes down on The Walking Dead‘s “Spend” episode!
