Look out, Cookie! ‘Empire’ might be getting a visit from another diva by the name of Jennifer Lopez, but is there room for the both of them on the island of Manhattan?

Well she’d certainly fit right in. Jennifer Lopez is in talks to appear on Empire when the smash hit series returns for its second season. The American Idol judge sparked speculation when she was spotted chatting with the series’ executive producer and star Terrence Howard. However, a potential roadblock could stand in JLo’s way if she does in fact want to appear on the series– and no, it isn’t Cookie (Taraji P. Henson)!

‘Empire’: Jennifer Lopez To Guest Star?

Look out, Boo Boo Kitty, JLo is coming to Empire.

Well, she might be. Rumors have been running rampant that Jenny from the Block will be making a guest appearance after paparazzi snapped her at West Hollywood’s Sunset Tower Hotel at the same time as Terrence and Empire EP Brian Grazer.

The series’ show runners, including Lee Daniels “would love to have Jennifer Lopez on the second season,” a source close to the show told the New York Post, however that may not be possible. Jennifer is currently developing a series for NBC called California, and would only be able to appear on Empire “should her busy schedule allow it.”

The ‘Empire’ Connection With ‘American Idol’

It would certainly make all the sense in the world for JLo to guest on Empire. Putting aside the fact that she is one of the most established divas working today, she is also a judge on American Idol, which airs on Fox. Also airing on Fox? Yup, Empire.

In fact, there’s already been quite a bit of crossover between the two hit shows. On the Mar. 12 episode of Idol, Hakeem (Bryshere Gray) and Jamal (Jussie Smollett) took time out of the top 11 performances to perform “No Apologies.” And the night before that, Empire‘s Andre (Trai Byers) and Rhonda (Kaitlin Doubleday) were in the Idol audience and even had a little chat with host Ryan Seacrest.

Ryan asked the two actors how it felt to be on the number one show in America. They said it felt great and then Ryan added, “I remember those days.”
